Building a shed is the first big project on this property. The summer sun and winter wind are hard to get out of. Plus I'm tired of bringing up shovels and ladders and such. Cargo Trailer to Camper Conversion - 1st Phase
WOW, You did an excellent job in converting your trailer. I’m sure I could figure out how to do something like this, but I have problems with vision and it’s difficult for me to see the right measurements.
Finally a cargo trailer that’s not a v nose. I’ve been looking for something I can get inspiration from an I like everything you did here. I’ll just have to do something else for my bed cause I want to haul my bike. You did a great job thanks for sharing
OMG... overspray on the trailer...!!
I dont understand why someone NON corporate doesn't make these and manufacture at least 8 at a time. you will eventually be able to bring the cost down to $12,900 I believe.
Wanna help me and visit Canada?
Great build and nice narration. Enjoy!!
Are you worried about high winds or anything knocking it over? The profile seems very tall for that location without it being fastened to the ground
Yeah I think strapping it down would be a good idea. Sometimes there are strong winds out here
Nice shed and video
Awwwwww yis
The vent for the water heater should have been out the side not the front. The last thing I would want to do is force air down the vent pipe. Also, I would not have put an outlet in the bathroom, but if I did it would have been GFCI.
Do you have to vent to the outside?
Use. Heat gun to release tension in hose
Так а размеры какие? Ниочем
what an amazing build Especially for your first time incredibly impressive. You should be proud of yourself.‼️
Dam I wish I could do this to my trailer
You’re a God sent …thank you a beautiful and very doable project I can do. Bravo beautiful work!
What size pipe did you use for your vent pipe
Amazing build! Saving this for future reference if I decide to venture into this lifestyle. Thanks a bunch. 🇨🇦😉
It's probably one of the best step by step video on how to complete this build. Nicely done!
Looks great
Great job
You lost me at the very beginning watching you bury those pipes in the wall. I'm a newbie but I know better than burying anything behind a wall other than insulation.
You definitely are a newbie, how do you think the pipe in your home are run? In the walls! Makes no difference to do it in a camper as long as you do it the right way.
wonder if extreme heat would melt the glue for the walls?
What kind of brick did you put on top layer ?
Do you recall how much mortar you used? And how much concrete?
looks great, spending the time to get the first row of shingles perfectly square is worth it! Getting bundles of shingles up on roof by yourself is never fun. That stapler is a necessity to keep things moving and I wish I'd have had that air nailer in years past! :D
Thanks! Did you hand nail shingles up? How did that go?
What tape did you use for the shower joints before the FRP.??
And for those that are going to do the same thing and waterproof their own customized shower, please steer as far away from using a whole thing of caulk on it before you use a roll-on latex shower paint that they use when they install showers I don’t remember exactly what it’s called but you can paint it on any surface and it will waterproof itand you just apply it generously in the corners and use multiple coats
Nice. Thank you
Great videos a little fast for me tho
Hi, witch model of tubes and pomp did you used?
Great tnx
You have given me some great ideas for a cargo conversion build that I would like to do I’m retired and want to travel the country and so therefore I’m looking for ideas that will last long as I will be living in this most of the time… thank you in advance for any input that you can offer
Amazing 💯💯
Kind of looks like somewhere in Cochise County, Arizona?
That was one area I was looking at. Arizona has some great areas like that. This is inland southern California
@@befreebuilds wow! It looks so similar!
How tall is front wall from back all? Do u have plans?
The front wall is just about 12ft tall and the back wall is about 8ft tall
I love this brother. Keep doing you. I miss you man. Love Don
Thanks man! It's been too long for sure
Did you just mix mortar and water or do you have to put adhesive
Just the mortar and water. I didn't add any adhesive
What kind of brick did you put on the top layer ?
@@TanjilaRahman90 These were bullnose bricks
Please let me know if you ever decide to sell it. 😍
Why nail in certain parts vs screw?
Mostly just used the screws where it was more convenient. That framing nail gun was pretty big for small spaces or to haul up and down the ladder
Very nice
It risks blowing off the pavers once it has siding and a roof. Maybe tip, even if it's anchored to the pavers. I would cast 4 anchors with 80lb of concrete in a 5-gallon bucket and galvanized straps protruding. Then bury each 3ft+ deep at the corners at screw the strap to the frame. The anchors will resist uplift with the weight of a 45-degree inverted cone of soil above them. Use hurricane straps at the roof connection and ring-shank nails or screws for the siding/sheathing.
Good idea. I was kind of expecting to retrofit better anchors on it, especially after experiencing some of the winds out here
Nice video. I’ve got a jig that speeds up framing by eliminating the measuring for the stud. You can lay out 24, 16, or 12” on center and it holds them in place while you nail. I’ll find it and send you a photo. I’ll bring them when I come out there. One other suggestion would be to have plumbed the joist ends that way the facia boards stay vertical and water will not ruin them as fast. Great job.
That sounds like it woulda been useful! All the measuring definitely took a lot of time
Looks good. Like the color.
I love it and it looks great thank you for sharing 😊
Does the ceiling have wrought iron bars... that would be strong enough to support a hammock? My hammock stand is exactly is 7'11". I think I'm probably going to get a 5x8 trailer for my Jeep to pull. During the day, I want as much open working space as possible. So hopefully it'll work out great 🙂
The bars are pretty strong, but I'm not sure I'd trust a hammock on these. If you added some bracing that could distribute the weight to the floor, you could probably make it work though
This is a great video on a cargo trailer build💯 so can I just use a really good solar generator for my electrical needs? Also I'll have a composting toilet that's easy and no smell (I've researched them) a electric portable cook top...plus bed etc...just don't want to do alot of building, so what do you think?
Great built did you use staples or brad nails on the ceiling and what size ???
I'm in Colorado and every county I looked at had restrictions for how long you could stay in a non-permanent structure (trailer). It makes camping there difficult and living in a trailer on-site while building a structure would be impossible. There were all kinds of other things, like gold-claims, or properties without mining rights. Some places required a grid hook-up for any permanent residence with no apparent exemption for an off-grid home. I'm interested in how you searched for a piece of land you can actually use. Maybe a subject for another video?
Yeah I'm encountering similar restrictions about camping on your own property, which is frustrating. They have more permissive rules for "tiny houses" builds and permitting so I may go that way. I can definitely do off grid solar, though, so it can be fully off grid
Colorado seems to have the most restrictions while states like AZ, NM, NV have their own restrictions but most of the time it deals with septic tanks. When I found out how restricted Colorado is, I started looking for land elsewhere.
Although the grey and black tank straps are likely galvanized, id still probably paint them for looks and more structural integrity from oxidization, but i freaking absolutely love the vinyl walls, ill definitely be doing that on my conversion, probably same color to, but possibly brown wood look over grey ,but grey for floors
