Thank you so much for this; it is so helpful! I’m tutoring a girl right now who hates reading but is incredibly extrinsically motivated. My goal has been to find her books she’ll like to read so the motivation will turn to intrinsic and she’ll actually enjoy reading. It’s been hard to find videos on helping older kids read and I’m so glad I got this one recommended.

Ooh, The Husbands sounds so good. I just requested it from the library (third in line).🤪 I just finished When the Day Comes by Gabrielle Meyer. It’s one of the best books I have read in a long time. It’s Christian Fiction Time-Travel. Sounds odd, but very good. I’m also looking forward to the next Riley Sager summer book. I think it will be called Middle of the Night. Yay!

I have so enjoyed hearing your son talk about the Tarzan books this week. He was reading every free second he had.

I see so many flaws with this system: my kids cheat a lot. And just copy notes from the screen when I ask them to summarize the texts. Ugh… this wouldn’t work for me.

Hello! I love your video, but I need help with middle school English. I am a math loving momma but English throws me for a loop. My question Are Literary Analysis the same as a Literature Study? If possible could you give me an example of both with a resource. Thanks so much.

Lyndsay, the quote about only having strength for today is such an encouragement! I tend to borrow troubles from the future (& past!) so this is an excellent reminder ❤️ For a book recommendation, I’d recommend the Southern Sisters mystery series by Anne George. They are murder mysteries, but nothing scary/graphic. The characters are just fun, middle aged southern women and they make me giggle 😂

I read “Everything Is Okay” and it was so cathartic for me because it was my story dealing with depression and anxiety. I wish I had the support and insights sooner. I am now doing so much better in my life and this book came at a key time in my life. I have since read all of her other books. “Book Love” is a one sitting delight. Highly recommended!

Love this. Thank you! 1. Read to self - independent choice book 2. Read to someone else, read out loud 10-20 minutes 3. Listening to reading - listening to an audiobook, parent or someone else read to child 4. Word work - grammar or spelling 5. Writing - 20 minutes, based on what child is reading. Journal about the book.

These are 2 completely different styles of teaching/learning. They are really not comparable. Abeka is traditional as it was made for Christian schools and Language Lessons for a Living Education is Charlotte Mason and a much more gentle approach. It also builds throughout the 6 levels rather than being rigorous like Abeka is.

Love it! Downloaded the Mad Minute Multiplication, when I worked in 3rd grade we did Karate Math. I really like this also and will implement in our home education. I also grabbed your Literature Guide for any novel, looks great! Thanks for sharing! Blessings to you and yours!

I just found your channel, and I have very similar beliefs on how crucial reading is with learning just about everything!
