WHERE THE NAME COMES FROM
Information from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Aquila Mountain is a 2,840-metre (9,320-foot) mountain summit located in the Athabasca River valley of Jasper National Park, in the Canadian Rockies of Alberta, Canada. Aquila Mountain was so named on account of eagles in the area, aquila meaning "eagle" in Latin. The mountain's name was officially adopted on March 5, 1935 when approved by the Geographical Names Board of Canada.

    I just stumblex onto your vieo and have added it to my downloads. What a great example of combining power tools, jigs and hand tools! My DR4 Pro is still in the box but I'll be putting it to good juse soon I hope. Couple of other skills to work on first. Can I ask what finish you used?

    • @morganhurst_redridge
      @morganhurst_redridge Před dnem

      I don't remember specifically but it was either Tried & True Original or Tried & True Varnish, either way if you're looking for a really nice natural finish both will work very well.

    love everything about this build, save the mechanical slides. shakers didn't use them. they cheapen the final great design and build. just my two cents, fwiw.

    • @morganhurst_redridge
      @morganhurst_redridge Před 14 dny

      By adding those mechanical slides, it actually increased the value to the customer because while traditional drawers can work well these mechanical soft close slides make the dresses easier to use.

      @@morganhurst_redridge thanks for taking the time to reply, most don't. earned yourself a new subscriber. i will not debate the ease of use, it's personal preference i guess. though i will argue that a quality, piston fit drawer is pretty easy to use. two things bug me about mechanical drawer slides in custom, high end furniture. 1. they tend to rack the drawer a bit if you don't close exactly on center (saw that in a few of your shots too), and 2. something about wood and metal just does not appeal to me. all that above notwithstanding, this is a beautifully designed and built set. there's a reason the customers love it, it's gorgeous and very well made. what's not to love. should last them a lifetime (minus the slides ;).

    I really enjoy your work, and feel bad the channel is taking a long time to grow. Clearly your content is 500k subs or more! I have been wondering if you would do a short or a video on how you mill your lumber. I see a mix of jointer, hand planes, power planer, cross cut sleds, etc.. Just curious if you would be able to break that down at some point.

    • @morganhurst_redridge

      When I get into the next project, I'll do a video about the process. I don't really have a single process I use, there's alot of different factors about a piece of wood that help me decide what tools to use. Sometimes I can get stuff done fast with machinery, other times the pieces require some work by hand, and every once in a while I just want to try something different.

      Most tanneries get their hides from the meat industry as a way to reduce waste. Even if you are an adamant vegan, you should still support the craft of leatherworking because it makes use of an item that would otherwise be wasted. Maybe get out of your basement and touch some grass...

This is how people usually deal with their vast cruelty. There are better ways than just shoving it down and pretending you don't feel anything at all. You're going to claim you don't feel anything, but then why did you feel the need to attack me on a personal level? It betrays your inner conflict. Hi Morgan, great job! I've been following this series and enjoying it. this episode had a better talk-to-work ratio compared to the previous one. The mask you're wearing is not suitable for painting. it's a dust filter, not effective for vapors. If you can smell it- by definition- it's in your nose. stay safe and keep up with the good work.

    • @morganhurst_redridge
      @morganhurst_redridge Před měsícem

      I was wonder if I would get a comment about this, so I did my research! The important thing to understand is both the type of paint I'm using and the application method. For the paint, I'm using an 0 VOC water based enamel and then using an HVLP sprayer for the application. The paint itself doesn't have any toxic vapors or fumes and spraying with HVLP doesn't introduce anything toxic in to the process. When spraying with HVLP, your vaporizing the paint into very fine particulates that may or may not attach to the wood. So all I need is to do is prevent myself from breathing in those paint particles which these 3M P100 filter are rated for. If you look at my recent video where I painted a handplane with my airbrush, I use oil based Rustoleum paint. While spraying that paint, I swapped out the filters on my mask for ones that would block the harmful vapors that come from that paint.
