That Marantz amp has good reviews. Probably not a bad purchase. With my Denon amp, I only heard a bit of difference between the Built-In DAC in the WiiM mini and the su1 but it was better enough that I decided to keep it. Hopefully someone will respond. That's tried that combination you're asking about.

By the way, I've been considering getting a bt20 just to test it. based on the reviews, it's supposed to have great sound for the price. Thanks for giving your experience with it.

Since I bought that device I have not had to pay any fees. I use the menu to schedule my recordings and occasionally for watching live TV.

Interesting setup and as you said at a great price. I find it hard to believe that One of the low-cost stereo amps would have better sound than the denon AV receiver, but it would be interesting to test it. Now you need to get some floor standing speakers to hear that dac really shine.

@@cashwise7614 confession: I’ve already “upgraded” to a pair of V3 Mono amps from the original V3 I got last year. There was a slight change in the sound, it feels a bit “bigger” now, but I’m not a serious enough listener to really quantify the difference. I just like the idea of monoblock amps. Guilty! I’m not suggesting a budget class-D amp (or amps) would be an upgrade over your current setup, but given your channel name and your recent look at (and positive impression of) two of the most popular high-value low-dollar “audiophile” products on the market right now, plugging a V3 or similar budget amp into your system would be an interesting exercise. If anything, it would take up less space! One of the things I’ve heard fairly consistently about the V3 vs. V3 Mono is that the Mono has improved control in the bass region. Nobody seems to talk about Damping Factor anymore, that was a thing with Class AB amps back in my car audio days, but perhaps that’s a factor with the Monos? Just a guess. I have a HT setup with Energy RC-50 mains, RC-10 surrounds, and an RC-LCR center. I’m thinking about hooking the RC-50s up to my desktop setup just to see how they do. They’re not big towers by yesteryear standards, but they have two 5” woofers in vented floor standing cabinets. The tweeter in the full-size RCs is something they were really noted for back in the day, so I’m very curious how they’ll sound. Who knows… maybe the RC-10 bookshelves will end up crowding my desktop! lol. Thanks for your feedback.

@@superspeeder yes I should test one of those amps hi def streaming with good speakers has the most impact on the sound. but you can get 95% audiophile Soud without spending a fortune. When I was listening thu my alexa connected to the same amp and speakers the sound which I thought was good was muddy and bland compared to listening to a high def feed with my wiim and Dac with the same amp and speakers.

You Will need an internet connection to use your tablo. It will record and play TV from your antennae. CZcams will be accessible via the web or a separate app on your smart TV,

Good point. If it's wet deep enough in the ground you could get some absorption up. over the long term when the ground dries out from everything I've read and studied the water will eventually flow down.

When you purchase the tablo you'll download the app. In my case, I downloaded the app to my Roku so the Roku remote will open and work with the app. You can also control the app from your phone or Google or Apple TV. Depending what you have. You do need to be on the same Wi-Fi as the tableau to use it. I.e you can't watch from your phone if you're at work but you could at home. Here are the hookup instructions from Amazon. Sorry it's kind of long. Put the batteries into the remote. Connect the USB cable to the power adapter and the Stick. Plug in the Stick to the TV's HDMI port. Use the HDMI extender cable if it's difficult to plug the Stick into the TV's HDMI port. Plug in the power adapter to the wall. Avoid plugging the USB cable directly into the TV. Turn on your TV and switch to the correct HDMI input. Tip: Use the remote that came with your TV to select the HDMI source or input. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect to Wi-Fi and download the latest software update. Sign in with your Amazon account. Use your mobile phone or computer to visit the on-screen web address (amazon.com/code) and enter the verification code. Follow the on-screen questions to set up equipment control for devices like soundbars.

Connect your optical out from your wiim mini to the back of the smsl Su1 optical in. Then RCA left and right jacks from the SML su1 to the back of your Fosse amp.

I have to be honest I didn't try the restaurant there although they do have one. There's a hot pot and coffee in the room so I would make some coffee there. Just outside the hotel there's a number of sit-down restaurants and food carts that I ate at. Glad you enjoyed the video. Sorry I don't have a specific answer to your question.

Believe it or not on that particular TV. I have old school rabbit ears. That being said, I do live in a major city about 15 miles from the main towers. I got the rabbit ears at Walmart for about 8 dollars.

I have been pleasantly surprised and I'm really enjoying listening to music through this setup. There are a lot of other great dacs out there but this one has been reviewed by many to be the best at the price point. ​@@cashwise7614with the separate roku you need to go through the TV to get the OAC. I have one TV set up like that and that is the only way I could find to do it. The TV with the roku built in shows the OAC in the guide just as simple as the streaming channels.

@@cashwise7614 as far as I've read, bad battery life is typical on gaming laptops anyways. It is what it is. I'll keep my eye open for future gateway/microcenter treasures.

Interesting. I hadn't thought of that. My question is how does it connect to the dac? via Bluetooth? If so, that would probably degrade the sound quality some.

@@cashwise7614 no, Bluetooth would kill all purpose and sound much inferior. I use an HDMI audio extractor with an optical out, and connect this to the dac's optical input. There should be no loss in the digital signal quality.

Glad you found my video helpful. I was playing through an alexa dot directly to my receiver. I was skeptical as to whether I would hear much difference but I will tell you on the high def streams it definitely sounds better to my ear. No going back for me.

@@cashwise7614 I just picked up the SMSL SU-1 DAC and the WIIM mini. Couldnt be more happy. With no DAC, the music has a very narrow sound stage. With the SMSL DAC, the sound stage is wider and each instrument comes through to my ears rather than bunched up together. Good bang for the buck !

I would imagine it would work but every article or old timer mentioned used motor oil so may be something to that. I would also use the water barrier on the below ground portion of the post.

That's another good option and eliminates a little of the complexity. However, most online reviewers including one I trust cheapaudioman. are finding that the smsl DAC is superior to the inbuilt dac in the Wii mini pro. I have not done a test comparison as they have but I am happy with the sound of the smsl1. And 60 bucks is 60 bucks.

@@cashwise7614 The SU-1 has the same DAC chip as the Pro.

@@cashwise7614 The SMSL SU-1 uses the AKM 4493S dac chip. The Wiim Pro PLUS has an AKM 4493SEQ chip which is an improvement over the Wiim Pro’s (and Mini’s) dac. Not sure if there is a difference with the 4493S vs SEQ though.

I believe you can, but what is your music source? Are you already sending a high def stream to the speakers?

@@cashwise7614 Hi mate, I'm using xiaomi mibox S as source. It has aux and usb output and connected to aux port.

Sorry I'm honestly not sure. Normally you would go optical out to your DAC and then DAC to powered speakers or receiver via aux. You may be able to run it through the USB port but not 100% sure. Most importantly, I would just try to make sure that you're getting high definition streams to the speakers. ,1400kbps or more. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

We agree to disagree. I own and admittedly mid-level QLED with full array local dimming It does have a good picture, brighter than the plasma. In my opinion the plasma has richer colors and better black levels still a better overall picture.

Need to try a brand like Samsung or Sony and one of the top tier models. Hisense processing is garbage. I’ve had a few plasma’s still have my Fujitsu plasma vision and pioneer elite pro so I’m familiar with the best of plasma but I just bought a Samsung QLed a few months ago and it is way better than even the 1080P pioneer and that pioneer cost $11500 when new. Everything about the new QLed is better much more vibrant and decked out with all the bells and whistles. They have come light years since the last Led LCd Samsung I bought in 2016 the quantum dot tech is just gorgeous that’s why the new Samsung QD Oleds are hands down the most gorgeous tv made

@@garrettstrutz7421 the QLED that I have in my bedroom is the TCL 5 series. Did a video on that against the plasma as well. I do agree some of the new OLED TV are awesome and would be my next high-end purchase.

I ended up returning the Hisense

Above the ground, the moisture does dry off. A lot of times in the ground stays wet for long periods of time . I guess you could coat the entire post with the rubber coating but it might not look as nice. The posts are pressure treated so are somewhat impervious to water. The addition of the motor oil also helps.

Both ram slots were full to 8 gigabyte sticks. You would have to remove those and put for example two 16 sticks. You might double check with gateway support like I did to see what the max RAM is for that motherboard.

@@cashwise7614 how is the performance so far? Planning to use it as a backup jus to make beats and light editing , it’s between this or a used hp omen 17 gaming from 2019 1tb,12ram, gtx1660ti, intel i7-9750h, which would u recommend really like the omen cuz the look thank u

I'm Happy with it! it's my backup for video editing haven't used it much (use my desktop when not traveling) I will say the screen is good and sound pretty good as well. The only negative I have is battery life not great. Not a huge issue for me but for others it might be. Still the most capable laptop with a graphics card for the money that I have seen. The 1660 would be inferior to the 3050. I guess it also depends on the price of the used machine. @@WrldIzyourz
