I met him in SC when in high school...Humble Hero
Chris is a crisis actor. He is a liar a traitor a piece of dog doo doo
10 years later from that fateful day and I still remember it like it was yesterday. Still missing DG and if I am ever fortunate enough to meet your children it would honor me to tell them how he helped a scared staff Lieutenant during that deployment.
I am doing it this year and I’m so exited. I’m a junior orchestra I play the contra bass
I have been a nurse for 35 years and I have lost faith in today’s nursing schools until I watched this. I’m in tears. I think the Lord has answered my prayers for my daughter. Finding the right school has been so stressful
You are a hero!
She makes ACC Network 😍😉

Second time I’ve seen him. Once at my school. And here. Fell on my face both times.
Nice,
It was a lovely event.
Thank you
How would you define “vitriol?” Does that just mean you disagree? Fine, say so. Vitriol is a devil-word (I suspect you know that). What exactly is your issue with this presentation? Compare and contrast to any recent public speech from any public figure to support your claim, please.
I saw this guy speak 2x when I was in Jr. High as summer camp. 20 years later, I'm a clinical psychologist studying for my licensing exam. He uses every classic group/charismatic coercive method in the book to communicate his message. Despite the content of his message being quintessentially self denying and focused on using spiritual bypass to skirt difficult developmental conundrums; his charisma focused style is just creepy. I hope for the day when kids don't have to hear vitriol like this.
I’m sorry you feel this way
Once you said that you were a clinical psychologist, I immediately understood your arrogance and your attitude towards this man's message. You people think you are so wonderful and believe that your "science" ends in emotional and psychological healing. Isn't it ironic that most of the secular counselors and psychologists I know have serious personal and family problems at a level that is actually much worse than that of the average Joe in the street? A close family friend of mine just committed suicide after years of intensive counseling under people just like you. No thanks to your profession and what most of you represent.
@@Sanddollar1 I definitely share some of your criticisms of my field. Nevertheless, this would be called an ad hominem attack, in that you are critiquing me and not my concerns/criticisms. You don't need a degree in social sciences or theology to observe the stylistic similarities between Despres and a speaker like Jim Jones or David Koresh. Any average Joe can observe the messages side by side and make the decision for themselves as to the presence of similarities. I'd strongly recommend to anyone interested in faith healers to look at Mark Galanter's book, Cults: Faith Healing and Coercion. It's fair and surprisingly even handed. Sanddollar1, I wish you luck in all of this and I am sorry for your loss.
@@ProfessorClay Your criticism, in my opinion, is coming from a place of hypocrisy, given the incredible ineptitude of your own profession. You criticism of Adrian is unfair because you have committed what is called the association fallacy, wherein you lump together different things and act as if they are the same. Adrian is not a cult member in any way, shape or form. His beliefs and teachings align with historically orthodox Christian views. Your argument utterly fails here. Additionally, a speaker's style is merely an artistic expression to present their ideas. To argue that someone is a cult teacher because of supposed "stylistic similarities" between them and someone else, is to commit yet another philosophical fallacy called the "strawman fallacy," with style being the strawman.
@@Sanddollar1 While I acknowledge the limitations of my profession, I don't think its fair to say that as a field, clinical sciences are inept. We don't help everybody, nor can we save every life. Same is true in medicine, but that doesn't make MDs inept. To really have that conversation, we would first we would have to establish a definition of healing, recovery, etc, and then establish a timeline that we would expect that healing to measurable by. How long does it take? How long should the healing last before more treatment is needed? These are basic questions in the research portion of my field: efficacy studies of therapy/medicine/institutionalization, etc. What is interesting is that what is well established in my field is that faith healing can in some cases be more efficacious than traditional Western medicine or psychotherapy. What doesn't support your argument or Despres message, however, is that other faith practices also can produce faith healing, and the efficacy of faith healing is strongly associated with the amount of charismatic culture a faith healer or group can generate. AA for example, is well known to be moderately effective in supporting with substance use concerns; roughly 30-40% of new initiates within the first year. It is considered a faith group with vaguely Judeo/Christian values, since it stemmed from the Oxoford group. However, a group like the Harikrishnas, which are much more charismatic have much much higher rates of efficacy in helping people to stop using drugs; much higher than AA and much much higher than a traditional church. The higher on the continuum of charisma, the higher the efficacy or greater the potential for change. The book I mentioned unpacks this clearly. In relation to the association fallacy, I understand your point, but that's not exactly applicable here. I asked others to take note of the stylistic similarities, not to prove Depres is a cult leader, but to draw attention that his rhetorical and oratory style is very similar to that of well established charismatic leaders. I don't think it can be agrued that they don't have similar styles; they do. My question is then, if Depres was preaching a gospel of truth, why would he need to rely on a charismatic delivery akin to establish charismatic/cult leaders? In relation to "historically orthodox", I trust you have someone in your church/faith community who has studied theology at a Christian seminary. I would encourage you to ask them in what ways Christian theology has changed over the decades and centuries, helping us arrive at this current moment is protestant and evangelical theology. This is a basic an well understood premise, even in conservative evangelical seminary programs. The more trusting answer to this question of changing theology, is that our current interpretation of scripture is the most scripturally accurate and that past denominations and sects were misguided. This is fallacy is known as presentism and is highly common across many religions and political parties, and yes, forms of medicine. Again, for serious christian theologians, even conservative theologians, the criticism of presentism is one that they serious grapple with and go to great lengths to hold themselves accountable to. The skeptical answer to why theology changes, is that the theology evolves to meet to the needs of the times, challenging the premise that here, now, we have a classic "orthodox" theology, rather then a constantly evolving, dialectical exchange between theology and society. This is the core idea of Hegel, a devout Christian, and perhaps the most respected Western philosopher by both theistic and non-theistic scholars. You raise an interesting question though; can someone who preaches from an established or widely excepted christian theological position still be a charismatic/cult leader, because of their stylistic presentation or their own personal motivations? It really is an interesting question. I trust any christian knows a preacher who is a bit of a cult of personality or runs their church for personal motivations. Does it detract from the message? I think so. Does it mean that Christianity is false? That wasn't my original point or claim, but I do think that it lessens the chances of the scripture being intrinsically true if it can be easily used for ulterior gains. I met Depres 2x, and remember that at the time, he was generally known, even by his peers and fellow clergy members, for being a bit of a cult of personality, and enjoying acolytes. I'd appreciate it if he chimed in here, as I trust he could attest that this was a somewhat common impression he gave off/something he was know for, at least during the 90s and 00s. Does that make him a cult leader? That's for each of us to decide. Does it make me doubt the validity of his intentions and limit the power of his message? For me, yes. In regards to the straw-man fallacy, that's not how a straw-man fallacious occurs or is set up. A quick wikipieda of the fallacy will hopefully clear that up. All in all, I appreciate the exchange. I am sorry if any of my tone comes across as arrogant, that is not my intent; it is hard to express humility when challenging someone's convictions, as it is rather arrogant endeavor regardless of which side of the argument you reside. I really do wish you both the best.
Brilliant ,fantastic.so colourful .god bless everyone.beautiful choreography.

This was sad to watch. Chris is a very strong young man. I wish the best to all involved.
I can't even fathom how that young man feels. The depth of his pain must be enormous. However, he is so very fortunate to have all those wonderful teammates and coaches and others who love and care and support him. God bless him. His strength in this is very inspiring.
