If I could only fish with one fly and one fly only, this would be it. It is simple to tie and I have caught all species of Trout, Atlantic Salmon, Bass & Pickerel. Fly fishing for trout in a lake or pond. They are great places to catch fish but make sure you move your fly into different areas. There is more chance of catching the fish in shallower water than the deeper water.

you got my blood up ;) love bead head in slack water lakes when no flies on the surface early spring but the love nymphs
Believe it or not Kevin, I just started using nymphs this year. Instead of just flogging the water for hours on end, I just change my fly to a nymph and have had good luck.

one thing all the fly fishing videos miss is a real close up of the actual fly pattern they are using. Thanks for that. Always take a nice close up picture of the fly pattern it's very helpful. I've watched countless fly fishing videos watching folks catch countless fish and they never talk about the pattern. So thanks for that.

I don't think you will be sorry. I Have lived in Ontario Canada, Nova Scotia Canada, Scotland & England and caught fish everywhere I have lived. Caught Trout, Salmon & Bass with it. Let me know how you make out. Tight Lines.
Put the same line on each otherwise you are not comparing rods, but lines.
Hi James, for that video I was just using the combo as it was sold since beginner fly fishers would just use it that way. During my video on the Cabela combo, I did mention the combo felt good but thought it could use a better line. Since then I did put the same line on that I normally use on the Cabela Combo reel and it casts much easier and I use that rod quite frequently when I travel. I switched the reel from the Cabela rod to the Amazon rod and the rod still flops around like a dogs willie which makes casting more difficult and you cannot accurately place the fly where you want it.
Are you casting exactly the same line? Otherwise, it's A 2:01 pples to Oranges. You cannot compare rods with different lines.
