@@marsbotbyl159 I have a few videos on how I make it. Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂
@@rg22outdooradventures88 I'm still trying to make my first one. Just too busy fishing Erie. Gotta make that wire bending tool.
Beauty job brother
Looks epic 🤩
Hey brother l think l figured It out. I'm using too long a piece of wire. It starts to twist in the center while not forming a nice loop eye. Rewatching all your videos on another rainy day. 😂
Nice lure 👌👏👏👏
@@makinglure Thank you!!!
Work sharp is better & cheaper, and you don't have to do as long Manny passes
@joewall3148 that's cool. May be something to look into and compare.
Try the field sharpener !!!!!
@joewall3148 maybe I will in the future. Thanks again!
Nice job 😀👌👏
NICE paint job!
Thank yph!
Just watching another one of your fantastic videos brother. Picking up tips every time. You just convinced me to make my lures through wire. Sitting on the fence for awhile on that. Getting close to paint 😊 thanks.
That's awesome. If you can, post a picture in the comments of the finished lure. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
@@rg22outdooradventures88 it's gonna be awhile yet. Everything l need has to be shipped from your wonderful country. I can't find much in Canada. Lol. In the process of moving from Mattawa to Niagara. Shops upside down. Hahaha. Ordered some 18" wire from Musky ---- .
@marsbotbyl159 all my stuff either comes from Amazon, Harbour Freight, or Hobby Lobby. Amazon should have pretty much everything. The wire I use is 0.51" or 1.30mm stainless steel saftey wire from Amazon, getting wire from places like the M...y S..p would get a bit expensive.
I love this new hobby,it involves most of my tools and talents. Very rewarding. I'm not finished my first design and already started a new one lol endless possibilities. Thanks my friend. Have a great day 😊
Change the nose line attachment to a hoop. And use a solid leader. Get more side action out of it.
I was thinking that when it was all done. I'll have to try relocating the line tie and maybe add a split ring to the line tie as well. I have also switched to titanium leaders along with the FC leaders. Thanks for watching and commenting.
You could be mistaken for a gardener. Green thumb! 😅
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Do you sell any of these? Work keeps me too busy to make my own at this time. Nice video & lure.
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. To answer your question, yes I do sell a few from time to time. This was the second time I ever made a dive and rise and it needs some work. Once its all dialed in, I'll make some to sell. I enjoy showing the lessons I learn as I progress in my lure making.
Action is great!
Thank you!!
Did you tank test the lure when adding weights? Don't wanna mess up my lure adding to much. Thanks. Very helpful!!!
Hello!!! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. When I first started, I did. Especially when I was learning how to make a jointed swimbait. I used a few different methods the Zimmtex method of hot gluing and the Marling method of drilling a hole, adding lead and drilling out, or adding to if needed. The baits I make now, I am just looking to have it sitting upright in the water. When I made my internal weighting lures, it was pretty much a guesstimate of how much and where the lead should have been placed. A couple were successes while others were utter failures. Needless to say, I kind of abandoned that method, but I was fun developing it. Thanks again, and have a wonderful day. Oh, I'm working on a couple of videos. I just have to finish editing and it just takes forever.
What about the tip bro?
The tip of the knife? It was sharpened as it was being passed through the stones.
Cool ! Motivating !
Thank you!
What size hooks 4/0?
I think so. I can't remember if it was 4/0 or 5/0 but they are Mustad 5x extra strong.
@@rg22outdooradventures88 l use 5/0 extra strong on my spinners. That looks like a 4/0. Lots of big musky here in Niagara River and both lakes Erie and Ontario. I've seen them.
That's awesome... I'd love to get a musky out of Lake Erie. I have both 5 and 4/0 and don't remember which ones I used. Most likely they are 4/0.
Great video, l wondering how far from the nose to the end of your curve. Thanks
Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. Honestly, I never really measured the distance. It was something I just drew and it looked good to me. I'll have to grab a measurement for you.
@@rg22outdooradventures88 I'm gonna guess according to the 1/2" eye about 4 1/2" you da man!

Eastern red. The kind you get at HD and Lowes.

Hello. Can you please tell me approximately how much your boat and trailer weigh? I’m looking at purchasing a Thor Gemini/Compass and want to tow a trailer with two 800lb Harley’s in it. Does your boat trailer have brakes? What kind of fuel mileage when towing at 65 mph. Does it get bogged down going up 6% grades? Thank you.
Hello, the boat itself is almost 1800 pounds, that doesn't include the motor accessories and trailer. I would have to say total 2500+ pounds. We towed the boat through the Smokies up and down the passes, 2000+ miles from Ohio to northern MN and back, and another 2500mile drive to and from Mississippi. We've had no issues with towing. Milage depends on how you drive. I would say on the average 9.5mpg.
@@rg22outdooradventures88 Thank you very much.
I will add at the end of the season last year we had a motor on the slide go bad and needed the motor replaced. Other things have been small and cosmetic... such as inlays on the trim needing glued back on. I can't comment on the bathroom as we haven't used it and its pretty much a storage closet at this present time. I don't see you having any problems towing two Harleys. I've done almost 85mph with the boat trying to keep up with traffic at times, and you don't even know it's back there. One otherthing... I also launch and recover my boat with the RV. It's quite maneuverable in those situations and I haven't run into any problems starting up the boat ramp once the boat is back on the trailer (some are quite steep). Hope this helps.
@@rg22outdooradventures88 Yes. That helps a lot. Thank you for taking the time to get back to me. Cheers.
I haven’t had much luck with it. Wish I had my money back. May be me. But damn doing what they say too
I last used it sharpening some pretty dull knives on the video. It worked for me, but I have yet to try it on my fillet knives.. I also used it on one of my carving knives and it worked as well. There's different angles for different knives as well as placement of the blade. It's too bad there is no idiot proof sharpener, if there was I'd be all over that 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.
Thank you
Just came across your videos. Nice ti see locals thay fish the same areas i do. Keep up the good work. Loved the one with your dad on father's day. Awesome 👍👍
That’s an absolute stunning bait
I'll have to try my hand at making one of these. It looks simple enough and fun. Thanks!
Give it a shot. I have a few other videos about float making as well. Check them out.
I make wooden lures as a hobby and that is how I found your channel. But I do like fishing with a float and a worm to relax. Surprisingly, I have never made a wooden float. Looks like I'll have to expand my hobby! 😅 Thanks for sharing this!
Missed your comments, glad you're still around 😀😀. I got into tackle making when I was a young kid. My dad would take my brother and I to an outdoor youth camp at Leesville Lake, it was there where I built my very first fishing rod (still have it in a rewrapped form), centerpin steelhead is where I got into making floats and that was over 20 years ago. It's a hobby I truly enjoy. Thanks again for the comment.
I didn’t think it had a propane refrigerator, I thought it was just Ac/Dc.
We were under the impression it was, I think we misunderstood the salesman. We found out when we had our camper door dead bolt repaired in Northern Wisconsin. Regardless we still love the camper.
Doesn't look like it gets all of the way to the tip? You would have to pull it all the way out in order for the hones to make contact with the very tip?
The hones did reach the tip on a full stroke. It's done the best work so far. Once the weather warms, I'll really put it to the test, fileting some fish.
One of the best videos yet. Enjoyed it all! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. It was a really fun trip, especially going through the Smokies, which was something we did purely by mistake. Nantahala was also very nice. This year we are planning on a trip to Graneda Lake in Mississippi for some trophy crappie.
I have a similar problem but in testing my leads, I have 24 V all the way to the motor. I have not tried hooking to the lead on the control panel but that may be done tomorrow. I’ve had similar suspicion about the breaker and the leads there, but they all appear to be OK at this point.
The Minn Kota tech support was very helpful in helping me troubleshoot the problem. The more I watch this and think about it more, it seems like the corrosion may have been the main contributior to the problem. Best of luck.
@@rg22outdooradventures88 turns out my breaker was bad as well. Have a new one on the way. Thanks for posting.
Glad the video helped.. I should probably get a spare and keep it in the boat.
You're a good craftsman and good teacher. That was very inspiring, thanks for sharing your skills and knowledge.
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I appreciate the compliment. I'll keep sharing with everyone😀😀😀😀.
Nice video 😀👏👌
Thank you!!!!😀😀😀
Would love to see how to make the rod
I will definitely make one for a video in the near future.
Hello, that's very close to the Zalt baits, nice work!! Greetings from Germany 👍
Thank you ☺️
I thought the point of this thing is you don't need to turn it around as it sharpens both sides of the blade at the same time.
I thought the same thing... But the directions that came with the sharpener tell you to do exactly that.
@@rg22outdooradventures88 that's weird then. in the manufacturers videos he doesn't do that. I didn't turn mine around and my kitchen knife went from butter cutter to stupid sharp in less than 1 minute.
I bought & have used the original Warthog V-Sharp Classic since I first saw the sharpener & purchased it about 20yrs ago. It still does a fantastic job sharpening my blades with the diamond stones in it being the original ones that came when purchased that is just now going to replace. I have used this sharpening system weekly since it was purchased as I carry a knife 24/7 when I am going anywhere so I am constantly stroking a blade in the sharpener tho not like this video shows. I insert the blade onto the stones and draw the knife towards me from the hilt to tip in one stroke then pick the knife up and reinstall again down at the hilt and draw the knife towards me until the tip comes through completely and I do it again. The blade is sharpened at the correct angle on both sides with each pass through the V-Sharp and there is no need to turn the system around and do the strokes again because the knife was held straight up against the blade guide which puts an even edge on the blade. The only time I have ever made a back & forth motion like in this video was when I was trying to sharpen a "VERY DULL" blade that had incorrect edge angles that needed to be corrected. Correcting edge angles I used the heavy grit hones to remove material and after the angles are corrected I reinsert the finer grit hones again to finish the blade. Once a user understands how the V-Sharp system works and has sharpened their knives with it the upkeep of the blade is easy and quickly with a few strokes in one direction pulled hilt to tip the blade will be razor sharp again. The whole trick is keeping the blade straight up & down against the guide exactly the same every stroke! The best sharpening system & all my others purchased are in a good sized bread box wasting space never used because Warthog V-Sharp Classic just rocks!
I own 2 one with the stock stones rods and another with 1000 grit. Keep them both on the counter. To easy might not be purist but for those or us that just need my knife to be sharp enough to shave my arm hair it is money well spent. The above description should be sent with the sharpener.
Owe yeah pull a rolled up paper towel through the rough side. Kitchen knives leaves a lot of carbon behind
Thanks for the tip. I am looking at trying to setup a garmin network with livescope myself. I love that area of WI, my buddies & I fish in the LOL area.
Thanks for watching and commenting.
Get to the point
I have never been able to master the backlash on my spin cast reel. I only use it when trolling bottom bouncers.
Put the brake to full and adjust your spool tension knob (next to the handle) to the point where the lure just barely moves down under its own weight. Make your cast l, nice and easy, force it, and the spool may over spin and bam! Backlash. As the lure is flying through the air, keep control of your spool with your thumb and just b4 the lure hits the water stop the spool... no backlash😀😀. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@rg22outdooradventures88 I will try that out my friend.
Thank you, Dave. It takes lots of practice. Before I learned these tricks, birdsnests were a common occurrence. But by doing some of these tricks, I've almost eliminated backlashes. However, once in a while, one will rear its ugly head. Keep practicing, I haven't used a centerpin for float fishing in almost 5 years and have exclusively used my baitcaster.
Add #ASMR for the great sounds Randy ❤
It's a really great crankbait making video. Great job 😀🙏
Thank you very much! 😀
You have to speed way up and take it away from them and they'll engage that bait
Yeah, it took some time to really get the figure 8. This year I would say 70% of the fish i boated were in the 8. Even had a few come back after they swam away and got them to take. It's a real rush having them hit at boatside. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
Why post a video if you dont catch anything lol u owe me 15 minutes of my life back
Thanks for watching. I stated in the description that nothing was hooked (so technically I didn't steal those 15minites🤣🤣🤣🤣). But it kind of keeps it real since not every time a fish is caught. Sometimes, its hours of casting or maybe a follow or two. But there is that one time when everything comes together and you hook up. It's fun getting out and spending a day with friends on the water. Again, thanks for watching.
Thanks for the review! You can flip the diamond hones around to the hone steel side and put 15-20 strokes on the knives after you sharpen them on the diamond side and it will polish the edge up a bit if you want it hair popping sharp!
You can also get the medium (600 grit), Fine (1000 grit), and ceramic hones if you want a finer finish on the edge of your blade!
Which sharpening system are you talking about that you can flip hones around from diamond to steel side?
I just purchased a Gemini 24tb And have several major issues. Hot water heater did not work, generator only worked occasionally - if at all...sometimes. Vehicle Alternator does not recharge house battery - solar is useless. To recharge house battery you have to be hooked up to shore power. if you can get it to start it will recharge shore battery. the internal AC and USB ports did not work. Engine and performance were fantastic - plenty of power at low and high speeds. Overall extremely comfortable with exception on electrical and hot water issues.
The gremlins are starting to rear their ugly heads after our one year of ownership. In a couple of videos after this one I kind of go through them. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
Great review. I definitely need to sharpen some of my blades. Appreciate you sharing. 👏
Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. That first impression really has me excited to see how it works on my constantly dull fillet knives. But going to finer and finer grit hones would get the most out of the sharpener and likely male those knives razor sharp.
Can you get a satellite for your TV
It's something I never looked into or thought about. But I'm sure there's a company that makes a satellite that would work. It's just something I never considered.
