We are a first generation cattle ranch here in Missouri turning our wooded land into pasture. On our channel, we are sharing our whole journey of starting a ranch from scratch! We don't claim to be experts, but we chose to go full throttle into this lifestyle!
As we have shared more of our journey, more people have opened up to us about wanting to live a similar lifestyle, but feel that it's out of reach. Well. We are here to show you that we certainly don't have it all figured out, but we are taking action and learning along the way... and so can you.
We have been dreaming of ranching for a while, and it's becoming our reality one step at a time! If you have a dream, go after it!
Thank you for being here and hanging out with us here at Algiere Ranch. We are so happy you're here!

Baby calfs are the best
Fellow Missouri farmer here.... check out Powerflex fence supply out of Seymour, MO. Spring gates, step in posts, reels, etc are generally lower cost than other locations. Not always, but usually worth a price comparison. If you are not near Seymour, they do offer shipping options and free pick up at trade shows they will be attending in other areas. Additionally, your local NRCS office may offer lower cost supply options for high tensile. Not all counties do, but it might be worth a call to check. You do not have to participate in an NRCS program to purchase.
Thank you so much Rachel!! That is very helpful information! We are about 3 hours from there but we will check them out for sure!
Where are you watching from??
We are doing the same thing. First gen everything, but in north Texas! Love to see it.
Watching from east central IL. You guys are doing a great job and raise beautiful cattle

@@Maan_1911coltPB Much appreciated!! Thank you for joining us on our Journey!!🙏
I have built 2 out of 40 ft. Shipping containers, u can get 2 of them, place them at whatever distance apart that u want, ruun prefab steel truss, build in the ends to suit u needs
That is not a bad idea!!! Would you change anything on it
Prefab sheet metal barn or shed. Concrete if that’s in your budget but it all depends on square footage.
That’s what we are thinking too!
Wish I had some where to keep some
They are the best for sure!! You’ll make it happen one day
What is the best small frame cattle?? 🥩🙏🏻
I totally agree with you the best experience is hand on I just found your channel and your videos think you guys are doing a great job keep up the hard work and god bless

@@AlgiereRanch You are so wonderful. Do you need help?
We are always learning as much as we can!
Just get chickens they eat all the bugs
That is the plan! Eventually having them rotate behind the cows!! We have about 20 at the moment!
First thing you need to do is get rid of those ear rings then getting rid of your gayness will help your thoughts clear
Dang that’s is a well articulated idea!! Thank you for putting the effort into our journey 👊🏼💥
Good morning babies!!!!!!

Food for thought on Them brush piles. Would you want someone burning them if just had a family? Rabbits will be having babies soon. Keeping them until one year or 2 year until burning will make the piles fully burn. Maybe keeping some in some locations could allow you to hunt rabbits if you’re interested in that. I keep few areas so I can hunt them gives us more meat in winter
Yeah I will have to keep some just because we have so many of them!! I have never had rabbit.
@@AlgiereRanch rabbit is really good if you cook it right. Only thing is got to make sure get all the pellets out of them. Squirrel stew with greens and onion just use rabbit. German rabbit stew is excellent! They are good sources of iron vitamins b and something else. I try my hardest to make our land and livestock mix together. I need to make some new videos on my channel.
That is awesome!! That’s the goal that we have for sure!!
@@AlgiereRanch taking care of nature will help livestock. Good luck on your journey. The way I look at it this day of age is if electric fails and stores run out what would be the next best thing to see my house
It all takes time. It toke me 3 years of brush hogging to get mine back useful again after 25 horses destroyed it from past owners
Oh man!! Did you just brush hog? Or use any herbicides?
@@AlgiereRanch I brush hogged 2-3 times the first year. I used prescribe fire when it was nov. all in the first year. In spots had a lot of fescue in them I tilled and used round up Then burned. I own 34 acres and do fire in selected areas so bobwhite qual have habitat and so do rabbits. From seeing what I have seen from some of your videos. You can improve habitat and run cattle if you wanted.
I appreciate the input!! We are trying to learn as much as possible! We don’t have equipment yet so just trying to do as much as we can with the animals We were considering adding sheep to help with the weed/brush control
@@AlgiereRanch yes sheep and goats can help big time. You may want to build a small house to move around with like an atv or side by side. That way you increase area. I learned with sheep they will not cross creeks and water ways.
Should we use Herbicides on the weeds? Been getting a lot of people telling us that!!
It will be based on your own personal opinion if you’re trying to be all organic grass beef or just raise them the traditional way. If you’re going for all organic grass beef then don’t spray. Let is grow out seed then once the ground turns brown light it up on fire. Or just brush hog right before it is about to seed. If not worried about anything like that go right ahead and spray
I would like to be more natural based if possible! We just have a ton of weeds right now!
I struggled hard with weeds my 1st 3 years. 4th year I sprayed Pastureguard in late spring and it was a gamechanger and did a great job of wiping out most of my weeds while leaving the desirable grasses unharmed. I also started rotatng out of each pasture before the grass was eaten down so much and tried giving each area a longer rest period before regrazing. This on my somewhat limited acreage requires a sacrifice area for short periods where I can feed hay, but seems to be making a significant difference in helping the pasture grow back thicker and with less weeds. Also had soil tested which showed it low in ph so will be trying to bring that up with spreading lime this fall.
