LS Engine Breather and Catch Can Basics
zhlédnutí 282Před 2 měsíci
I see so many posts online and in forums about how to get the breather systems back up and running on LS engines that I thought I would make a video about the breather system and how to hook it all up. I didn't want to make an install video on any one specific catch can/breather setup or location since that's specific to the vehicle you're working on. Hope you enjoy the video and it helps you o...
Modifying the Exhaust on my LS Swapped 85 Z28 Autocross Camaro

In this video I install v-band clamps on the connections from my headers to the y-pipe and from the y-pipe to the over axle pipe on my LS swapped 85 Z28 Camaro. Autocross week is right around the corner and there's still a lot to do but getting this finalized takes some of the weight off my shoulders. Thanks for taking the time to check out my channel and content. I hope it's informational and ...

Thanks for checking out my channel and this video. As with everything usually related to cars a quick install turns into a little bit more work than anticipated. If you found this video entertaining please consider liking, subscribing and sharing to other Camaro and Thirdgen Camaro fanatics. Have a great weekend.

It's been a while since I've posted a video and a lot has been done on the 85 Z28. I wish I had filmed some of the work that I've been doing, but didn't. I hope to create more videos that are better produced and edited. Thank you for your support and for subscribing. As always, have a great day.

Thank you so much, I did not understand how the fitting worked into the master and what part I would need - I am so appreciative that you demonstrated that for us that are fumbling our way through restorations and upgrades.
@@tyharrell1658 I’m glad it helped and trust me. I know the feeling of fumbling through a project but stick with it. You’ll get there.
Hey great video! I'm looking for a factory muffler/tailpipe assembly like the one you removed from your IROC. I see that you have Illinois plate. How close to the Chicago area are you? Thanks, Charlie.
I built my exhaust. Hedman mid length headers 3" to a 4" collector Single 4" all the way out the back.
I wish I had just done my exhausts y pipe from the start.
I'm riding in my 92 Camaro LS 6 liter AR 5 from a GMC Canyon
I’ve put about 100 miles on mine since I did the swap and I’m very happy with it.
Ever since I completed my LS swap, frankly I don't think I could drive a OEM 3rd gen again, beautiful car though.
It’s such a night and day difference. I would be lying if I said I haven’t been thinking about a full engine, trans and rear end swap from a 98-02 into my 89.
Beautiful 🥰
Aww (first
Wait..WAIT-
That's when you bust out the big drone and fly it up there to say hi.
Might be stuck, you should see if he needs a tow or something.....
I love this song
THATS THE LITTLE BIRD THAT TOOK OFF FROM NAPA AIRPORT I SAW IT!
LOOK MA,A GHETTO BIRD!
Perfect RPG opportunity
😂
I got a buddy that works for Bell I wonder if he does the same thing with his little bird or is he likes to call it the Loach?
I really wanna see an updated quadrocopter variant of the lil bird
"Honey. Grab my M82."
Not really doing anything different than anyone else out there…..
I agree, I was just hoping to help anyone with questions on how to set it up get started in the right direction.
@@jembuildz gotcha. On a side note how much power you making? I’m going LS on my 3rd gen and wanna run the factory z28 air box. Hoping it will support 500hp
@@davidbright1489 that’s awesome! I think you’re gonna love the way your 3rd gen feels with LS power in it. I haven’t dynod my car yet, but I’m realistically thinking I have 350 rwhp. I think your airbox should support it.
I’d be monitoring how much oil you get at that intake AN fitting. The rocker cover normally vents back up that hose towards the intake coming off high revs. Most people have a catch can in that line, and usually a breather instead of the intake connection.
@@jasonlill2020 I’ve actually switched the line from the catch can since I did this video. The catch can line now runs to the 3/8 input on the sniper and the brake booster line runs to the 3/8 input on the intake.
Looks like a very well thought out and executed plan. Good luck with the build and enjoy!
Thank you and thanks for watching! I just wrapped up the exhaust yesterday and will get another video out soon.
Hey! Great video and good work! That 89 looks and sounds PHENOMENAL! I dont know how your channel hasnt exploded yet - but keep up the good work, it'll come!
Thank you! I appreciate it.
Thanks for the info, Bud. You wouldn't happen to know the part number on the braided holes nine.
I’ll have to look thru my receipts, if I find it I’ll let you know.
Awesome ❤
Lol
Oml dad
Lol your funny!❤
I have to wonder why this was made into a video. Are you normally not able to fix anything? I’m not sure I would post about it, but I guess if you’re that proud of yourself congratulations …. I guess..idk…
Your almost as bad as me
Do what I do. Twisted wire.
Spring clampation devices are better.
A cable tie would also work.
Awesome 👍🏼👍🏼
Hope you were going to get ziptie
And he remembers where it’s at cause NO ONE TOUCHED IT OR MOVED IT
Its like me fixing my brakes by putting nails in the holes in the abs pump. Now at least i have front brakes.
ABS takes all the fun out of driving lol
Zip ties lol
To the rescue every time!
Doesn't look like the clamp was sitting around very ling i like authenticity in my memes😤
Looks new
It is, but it came with an install kit that I never used but threw it in my bin of parts that have new and used parts 😃
@JEMBuilt I'm just busting your balls don't take me seriously liked the video keep up the great work
make it into a kit and ill buy one!!! all i have is a t5 and been looking for alternatives. Awesome build!!!
That’s something I’ve actually been thinking about.
Can't wait for you to make the kit then man!@jembuildz
100th sub! And thank you for the info. I’m doing an LS swap with cd009 trans. And needed to convert the clutch system like this. You’re the man!
Thanks for subbing! 100th sub too…that’s awesome. I’ve been slacking on the videos but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been busy on the car. I’m hoping to get and update out soon.
Hi. When it was all installed, did you look through the viewing inspection opening and see the whole bearing and hose’s moves towards the clutch, only the small sleeves stayed still? Greetings from the UK 🇬🇧
Yes, I have a bore scope camera I bought off Amazon and was able to have my son operate the clutch pedal while I viewed the internals move.
@@jembuildz I was surprised to see the pipe housing fitting moving too? Obviously you need flexible lines with this design
BEST VIDEO on this. GOT the key point right away!
2:50 that spacer you pointed out, how long is it? Wondering what the spacing is inside the bracket
Part number for master cylinder fitting?
It’s Earl’s 425LS641001ERL
What is the recommended clearance 1/16" or .016"? You kept saying 1/16 but the feeler gauge you used was .016. 1/16 is .0625". That puts you much tighter (.047) than recommended. If there is expansion when it heats up, the fingers could touch enough to wear out the throughout bearing.
I double checked the instructions from Howe Racing and it is 1/16 (.06) +/- 1/32 (.03). If I did use the wrong gauge I must have got lucky cuz it shifts and work’s beautifully lol. Thanks for watching!
