Wonderful documdntary where the subject is focal and we hardly if ever see the interviewer. The BBC do not make such excellent films anymore because the ego of the current interviewers and journalists is indulged, they set out to catch and condemn their subject these days opposed to remaining impartial so the viewer can raise their own conclusion

A jewish american guy who was going to an ivy league university decided to write his thesis on the holocaust. He traveled to the occupied territories during WWII and asked the jewish survivors of WWII about their experiences. He asked them questions about the camps and they told him they were work camps and he asked them questions about the gas chambers and they would look at him and ask him what gas chambers? When he came back to the states he told his professor he didn't think that WWII happened like they said it did. He wrote his thesis and had it published and soon thereafter he found he had to go into hiding because the mossad was after him. I hope my comment doesn't get deleted.

Tim Sebastian was a hard interviewer. He was hard with everyone, not just Irving. As such, he gave Irving the opportunity to defend himself... which Irving did well... or perhaps, very well indeed.

It's amazing how much easier digital ones are compared to full mechanical pipe organs. When my last post's building has to have a major refurb, I persuaded the Elders to pay for Harrisons to come in, completely strip out my beautiful 3 manual 60 voice Father Willis, fully renovated everything and reinstall again after the building work was complete (I had a Bechstein upright piano in the interim 👿). I am sure you will agree Paul, church leadership really needs to realize that these instruments are the most valuable piece in most churches (often even more than the value of the actual building in many cases) but they usually do not care. For example, when they fully deep cleaned out every pipe, case, damper box and case, they emptied 1/4 metric TONNE of dust just from the Great rank (Hauptwerk), which shocked the Elders, almost as much as the bill did the Treasurer hee hee. Needless to say, after it was restored and back in place (it took 5 months by the way), the hilt plated pipes re-golded looked stunning, but the sound and movement was as good and so much purer than it had ever sounded, other than the day it was originally commissioned in 1875. Better still, and I had not actually realized because the piano had always been tuned to match the organ, it was a tone and a half flat!!!! Glad your transition did not incur that much effort and expense (and, as for your neighbours, if they do not appreciate living next door to one of the world's finest young maestros, set the penguins on them!!!)

Being too honest is a thing. Good lawt bro, you don’t have to share everything. It’s admirable, but it gives his opposition ammo, and the pompous ass interviewer is using it to substantiate his own personal feelings he has about Irving. He’s not even considering he may be wrong about this. He’s only using Irving’s regrettable and relatable past truths to create a narrative. When a topic such as this is being discussed, questioned, and studied (academically), any deviation from the facts will disrupt progress. To think that what is universally accepted about this topic might be misrepresented or possibly completely fabricated, is a total mind fuck. I’ve always accepted the narrative and have never suspected anything different. I consider myself open to change when it is justified and/or necessary given the facts, but I’m finding it hard to even consider he may be right, even though I find him to be very intelligent and fact driven. It’s just hard to believe anything other than what I’ve been taught, and it will be difficult for me to make that change in my thinking should he be proven right, and like I said, I’m open. Most people will never be able to accept anything other than the narrative and will resort to what they always resort to when faced with hard truths that go against everything they believe to be true. We see that in this interview. He’s being painted as evil and even simply questioning the holocaust is racist and ludicrous. He’s just being a dick, and Irving is being vulnerable and honest, such as when he spoke about the interaction with the black man, the interviewer sees that as proof he is an evil bigot and and defines him by that interaction. Many will do the same and they’ll never be able to see past their hatred and see the truth, which is, he’s an overly honest, brilliant academic, who’s not afraid to rattle the status quo if the evidence leads him to do so. Today is the first time I’ve ever heard of Dave Irving and his theories of the Holocaust, and it has me all shook up, uh huh. But as I stated at the beginning, there is such a thing as being too honest, and I think it probably hurt Mr. Irving more than helped his case, but he doesn’t seem to give any fucks. So, much respect to him for keeping it 💯. I hope my ramblings make sense to anyone that may read this. I’m out. Peace.
