    if you remove the black paint and do not remove the silver can you place a screen behind it and see it through the mirror?

    • @AngelGildingcom
      @AngelGildingcom Před 12 dny

      That is a great question! It will have some transluceny to it, however that will depend on the individual mirror and how it was applied. It is more likely if it is a silver mirror with copper backing that it will have bit more translucency to it than an Aluminum mirror. Thanks for asking!

    Thank you for this! Are there safety measures we need to take when handling this chemical? Respiration masks/ filters to avoid breathing in the gases?

    • @AngelGildingcom
      @AngelGildingcom Před měsícem

      Those are great questions!. A respirator mask is less essential with the Pouring Silver we use in this video. However, we do carry a 3M half face respirator that is very good to have on hand. You can also buy them locally. One key safety measure for this process is to gather the waste water and treat it with the waste treatment kit that comes in the Blown Glass Mirroring Kit. You do not want to just dump the chemicals down a drain. Thanks!

      Hi, thanks for asking. This depends on how the mirror was made. it is possible if it is on plexiglass that its actually a film layer, not a true mirror. Are you able to see if it has a backing paint and if so what it looks like if you scrape off a small amount of the paint?

    Hello. Thank you for your video. Question: Can I resilver an antique mirror if it has a flower motif?

      Hi, that's a great question! If the flower motif is in the glass itself then that is no issue. If it looks like it may be painted on then this depends on a few factors. You can email us via our website with more information about your mirror and we can help you with your specific mirror. Thanks!

    Please explain how you tint with color a second surface mirror object?

      Hello, you can either silver colored glass or you can use a paint that is baked on. Silver will lift most paints, but there are some paints that can be baked in a regular oven that you can then silver.

    Why would you remove paint first, then re-paint? Wouldn’t it be more time efficient to apply the stencil first, then remove only the paint covering the mirroring you wish to remove? Thanks.

      That is a great question! We find that by following the process we outline in the video you can ensure a crisp line. Paint strippers and Mirror Removers are not able to stop at a precise line unless they are blocked in some way. By painting over the stencil you have a crisp line that will give you a clean result.

    I'm looking into ordering your remover kit. Is the backing paint a separate purchase?

      It is possible, although we do recommend re-silvering the full piece. We recommend you email us a photo of your piece and we can provide more detailed suggestions. Thanks!

      @@mayangirl2012 You may be able to but you could deal with issues of the glass cracking due to pressure as the glass expands and contracts with temperature changes.
