Want to learn about the chemical recycling and the circular economy, and in particular about the circular economy with tyres?
I am a chemical engineer and strategy advisor. In the last 10 years, I have been working with both small technology startups and also big corporations in the chemical, petrochemical and tyre industries. I have been building the global recovered carbon black community with the Smithers recovered Carbon Black Conference.
On this channel, I am documenting the progress of the carbon black industry, the tyre industry and the recovered carbon black industry. As an EASC certified coach, I have a wholistic approach. The collaboration with NGOs on the broader topic of chemical recycling is very important to me.

How can we make n-110 Carbon Black
Hello Subham, N110 carbon black can only be made with the furnace process. Yield will be highest with coal tar distillate feedstock and with best available technology your yield will be about 67%. N660 can also only be made with a furnace process. While you cannot make N660 grade carbon black with a tyre pyrolysis process, you indeed can substitute N660 with recovered carbon black of high quality. Best wishes from Lisbon / Portugal!

Since April 2023, the industry of course has progressed and moved on. There is ongoing work in rCB specifications and it will be interesting to see who will implement the first rCB grade classification system, the tire industry or ASTM D36.70. Some companies have finally received funding in 2024, some companies have started construction of their industrial facilities, while other companies have started operation. This industry remains to be very dynamic. I really recommend to join the global rCB communities at the Smithers conferences in Qingdao, China, and Amsterdam, The Netherlands! Thank you for your comment! Good point, I would not have realised this as I have a paid CZcams subscription and hence do not hear the advertisements. It seems to be like in the TV were broadcasters ramp up the volume for the advertisements? I could check the audio level of ads and increase video audio levels accordingly on next occasion. There was a comment from @Polyrytmi asking "is the joint venture between Enviro, M and antin going to be presented soon". This JV has now started building an industrial facility in Sweden, one of the positive news I mention in my presentation.
You can reduce the tire wear by building lighter cars & trucks. The increased weight of EVs are increasing tire waste. ICE cars & trucks save money and reduce tire waste. FJB
Thanks Ken, I think that is true. The consumer's choice between ICE and EV might not be for tire wear though. I want to promote the retreading of tires, including PCR, because the carcass is 90% of the waste. The tire wear particles are only now being addressed by the industry with new approaches to tread compounds, both with functionalised SSBR and new reinforcement materials.

Thanks Idul! Very glad that this session helped you. As of now, I would say recovered carbon black ash reduction is not yet established industrially and also not required. Greets from Berlin!

Schönes Lost-Place-Video ... ich wusste bisher nicht, dass in der DDR mit CB experimentiert wurde ... toll gezeigt
Danke Maikel . . . nicht experimentiert, sogar industriell hergestellt. Ich weiß leider nicht bis wann. In 1956 kamen in den USA die ersten hochverstärkenden Furnace Blacks mit dem Philipps Prozess auf den Markt, da konnten die Active Gas Blacks bestimmt nicht mehr mithalten.
Thank you very much for sharing this knowlegde. It helped me to quickly understand this part of the rubber industry. My experience is in rubber sealing and anti-vibration and it would be great to improve the circularity in that 20% of the industry as well.

Hallo Dirk, im Webinar sage ich, daß es noch keine guten Benchmarking-Werte gibt und daß aber die thermische Effizienz von den einmal erstellten Industrieanlagen den Markt in ein paar Jahren noch einmal aufteilen wird. Der theoretische Vergleichswert ist aus meinem Pyrolysemodell für Reifenkrumen mit 1% Feuchte und 1% Stahl. In der Praxis haben ich schon Technologien gesehen die 900 kWh/t bis 1.400 kWh/t verschlingen. Grüße aus Berlin!

Toll ... endlich mal in unserer Muttersprache ... auch in D wird rRC veredelt ... der Prozess muss nur extrem effektiv durchgeführt werden ... nicht nur chemisch, sondern auch energetisch ... nicht verkomplizieren, sondern machen ... einfach PV für Pyrolyse auf dem Betriebsgelände ohne Genehmigung bauen ... an der Autobahnabfahrt einfach ein Schild für kostenlose Altreifenabgabe installieren ... warum so kompliziert ... ich weiss, wo von ich rede und bürste meine Hände nach Feierabend nochmal, um den Rest des rCBs abzukriegen, kein Problem für mich als Anlagenbediener, Betriebselektroniker und überzeugter Mitarbeiter des nicht genannten Unternehmens ... es ist immer noch Neuland, deshalb müssen alle praktischen Vorschläge auch des qualifiziert und engagierten Teils der unteren Produktionsarbeiterebene Gehör finden ... irgendwelche Labereien, oder man könnte ... bringen nix ... rCB ist nicht nur Laborarbeit, sondern klotzen ... da haben überzogene Sicherheitsidiotismen speziell in die D nix zu suchen, sondern nur die vernünftige Zusammenarbeit der qualifizierten Mitarbeiter mit dem fachlichen Teil der GFs. Bei allem Respekt nach der guten Präsentation ... scheinbar probieren da einige noch die Raderfindung ... Leute, ich will doch da eigentlich nur meinen Beitrag als Elektroniker leisten ... andere Unternehmen warten auf Betreibselektroniķer
