heartopper cane at a really good time in my life and it still has a major effect on my life. about 6 months prior to the shows release, i got outed on social media as gay (im bi, actually) and a girl at my old school (i was 12 she was 11) tried to fight me because of it and she called me “they gay bitch from west (town name).” it got so bad that literally three days after the show came out, she tried to fight me in math class, and i snapped. (i was 13 at this point) i ran out of the room, into the bathroom and pulled up a yt video of “nick nelson quotes” to calm me down. my teacher came in, and i was crying in one of the stalls. we talked for a bit, and she sent the other girl to the office, and i went back to class. pretty soon after, i went to the office to discuss what happened. she got suspended and wasn’t allowed to be in our school musical the next week (we were both in it but i was a main character and she was an ensemble member). this show helped me embrace my bisexual identity and make me feel a lot better about it. so thank you heartstopper for helping me when i couldn’t help myself.
