2024 Boundary Waters Canoe Area Trip
The trip to BWCA was interesting to say the least. The weather was wet, windy, and cool. Due to the earlier than normal spring, the bugs were out in full force. The wind was very strong going on to the lake. One of the canoes took on water and capsized. Fortunately, two of the other canoes were able to drag the capsized crew to a rock outcropping. Another canoe from the group took the cold wet canoeists to a nearby island where a camping couple had a warm fire, hot fluids and dry clothes. Teamwork, determination, and the kindness of strangers turned a potential disaster into a successful trip. Unfortunately, one of the heroes passed away unexpectedly 6 days after the trip.

      Comibbeau, mine also starts easily. I think that I will also need a new impeller. I noticed it started to vibrate and shake on my last use. I also noticed that the bolt that holds it in place seemed off center. How difficult is it to replace the impeller?

    • @comlbbeau
      @comlbbeau Před rokem

      @@marvleier5327 I don't remember that the impeller replacement was difficult at all, and I'm no mechanical engineer. I believe mine must have cracked over time due to picking up a stone or something similar, and it struck me (no pun intended) that you wouldn't want your hand or face in line with the impeller axis while running at speed with the ductwork disconnected should parts of the impeller separate. I had no trouble ordering the replacement from Woodland Power Products.

    You can turn the deck wheels so that the deck rolls out from under the mower, instead of dragging it out.

  • @bnr540
    @bnr540 Před 2 lety

    Great video - thanks. Every time I do this job, not that often, I have to review the protocol to fully drop the deck and lock the foot pedal in the top position. One suggestion. The four deck wheels can be unlocked using the spring loaded pins, and rotated 90 degrees. There is one hole in the spindle that runs through the deck on each wheel, perpendicular to all of the other height adjustment holes we normally use. You rotate the wheels, lock them with the spring loaded pins, and the deck will roll out from under the mower. Makes it much easier to get back under the mower after the blade change. Just remember your initial wheel settings, raise the deck, and reset the wheels to their correct position. Thanks again for the video!

    • @marvleier5327
      @marvleier5327 Před 2 lety

      Thanks. I know about rotating the caster wheels. I have used them, but I find it quicker to slide the deck in and out, as long as I’m on smooth concrete. It’s a great suggestion though.

    What year is your 324? Mine is 16 years old / 354 hard working hours, and have only had a one pulley, one belt, three sets of blades, one seat, and yearly tune ups I do. JD the best mower I’ve ever owned. Greasing the pulleys is paramount as you said. A very rugged machine!

    Hi Marv! Nice job! A couple of things I noticed you might be interested in. When you grease the pulleys or anything else with grease fittings, you might try cleaning off fitting with a rag first so not to pump dirt in with grease. Also, that front nose wheel bracket can be unhooked without removing from tractor by shoving the deck forward from the rear, which will unhook the bracket arm. Best/DVK
