absolutely awesome the way you explain all this block editor stuff, your video is truly a gem, good luck on the Path!✨
Incredibly informative but also slightly traumatizing. Thanks! 😆
This is one of the best explanations about alt text. Thank you
Thankyou, keep em coming ...
This tutorial took my development to a whole new level. God bless you!
3:05 .. this where Wp / block editor fails... Any novice would tell you that page builders tend to be less overwhelming than WordPress which aims to be simple but fails at it... As a novice i can tell you we much rather not have to deal with page builders... The jumping back and forth between the work we're doing and then having to go in the customizer and being stuck is the main problem
useful information as usual, keep coming more block editor stuffs, thx
Can you please create a full playlist on how to create things using block explaining everything in depth
I can definitely create more videos about creating things in the block editor!
But you missed a point. Its not that its impossible to build in native gutenberg, its that its just waaaay harder than in bricks. I think that was his point. And he is right about that. Personally, both sucks, and I am way faster coding it myself. But you didnt rebut his point.
Easier in Bricks for some, sure. I'm not sure what point you're referring to, but my intention was to demonstrate the process with core WordPress to show it can be done pretty much just as easily with some basic key fundamentals. If you can build great sites that are easy to update by coding it yourself, that's a perfectly fine solution.
@@overnightwebsite Intro to your video you are calling "certain someone" out for bashing gutenberg and praising Bricks. I am just saying that his point wasn't that its impossible to build in Gutenberg, it was that its just super hard, and that noone should be doing it that way. That is what you missed to rebut, you just said in short "that guy is bashing, let me show you how to do it".
@@BK-qx3qf Right. That it's not super hard, I did it in the same amount of time as he did. The entire video is the rebuttal.
@@overnightwebsite If you say so m8.
I subscribed to your site because I love Gutenberg and detest Elementor & Divi. Horrible, horrible, I just have these page builders. WP has came on massively.
My rants about Elementor are much more profanity filled 😜
This list was initially created in a rant style that was just a long ramble typed fiercely on a loud keyboard. Lots of grumbling and sighing.
@@overnightwebsite some may call that therapy 😁
There are two ways to add templates in Elementor (and most page builders): - *Synced Templates:* Use the Template widget to include these. They are added as child containers. - *Unsynced Templates:* These are typically added as parent containers. I agree! Elementor has a bug preventing the direct dragging of parent containers to child positions. But there is a workaround: - Copy the template parent container. - Paste it into the desired child container position.
Yeah, we started creating a wrapper container around them so it could be drag/dropped, and for the earlier ones I just copy/pasted. It was an incredibly tight timeline so it was hard to redo things within the timeline. But we didn't really have any truly "global" ones, we needed that elusive partially synced solution.
Yeah, I noticed the slowness with Firefox in Elementor as well. The Elementor team mentioned that there's a polyfill that WP (pre-6.5) has that makes working with Firefox a terrible experience for page builders.
only when creating a WP website using the core blocks + ACF Pro I can get 96 or even 100 points page speed score. No page builders like Elementor allow me to achieve this.
nice content, tnx! greetings from Ukraine
Nicely done video, good explanation, subbed, looking forward to content like this. Thx
I'm enlightened from your sharing. TY!
I'm all in on WordPress Core. However, I want the custom block creation process to be more streamlined, not for patterns which is already pretty good but for more functional blocks. Ideally, I'd like the workflow of ACF Blocks to be native to WordPress.
It's an interesting idea, but probably not something that will happen. A true interface for meta field functionality never made it into classic, either. We have really solid 3rd party plugin options though!
This video is excellent Thanks!
Do you have a website that shows your work and what you offer in terms of web design/development?
That's one reason why I prefer to do as much as possible using Core Blocks. But I currently still use page builders to create templates.
Sounds like a solid plan.
You have demonstrated a very good understanding of the block editor. People bashing the block editor are mostly ignorant of how to even use it.
People like what they know. Hopefully this will encourage people to give it a real shot!

Great video!!
as of watching the video, no idea how you duplicated the cards at 29:50 - also thinking about the issues I've had using cover, something about responsive imagery I think.. I loved learning how you navigate all the things.. and this video is proof that gutenberg is further away from being a complete page builder that I thought as of Jan '24. I think this shows the need for even more basic, step by step educating, and zooming in.. showing the key keyboard presses as letters on screen.. Maybe the future is videos like this showing how to make and customize patterns that are added to the worpdress site and also github for remixing / adding.. Still shocked there are so few patterns available there as of today.
Showing keypresses is a great idea, I will definitely make a note to turn that on at key points in my videos. I believe I mention it briefly in the video the keyboard shortcut to duplicate, and if you click the 3 dots next to something, there's the option to duplicate within that menu that lists the keyboard shortcut for your operating system there as well.
Well done!
nicely done. Would you mind share to code/json?
I don't currently have it uploaded anywhere but I can when I get a minute!
@@overnightwebsite That would be very nice

@@overnightwebsite thankyou!!
An excellent video that addresses real/actual considerations when approaching design and development. Thank you for the time you put into this; subscribed.
Amazing! Nice to see the same section being created in different ways. I just subscribed to you, keep making these kinds of videos :D. I really love that you're going out of your way into using a page builder and started to use the default gutenberg, and show how you can go around developering it yourself. Great job! I got asked to build this using Greenshift, and it was a great experience. Way quicker (who would have thought :P), but less fun of you'd like coding and adjusting gutenberg core.
Thank you for your video. It is so valuable. I did not watch the full video. Will watch it when I have the time. Please do more tutorials like this. It would be great if you could start from the beginning so that even a beginner like me can learn Gutenberg, I mean start a series like 101 Gutenberg and explain everything from the beginning like to Gutenberg layout, how to edit typography, colors. I subscribed you channel expecting more videos like this. I don't know whether you have videos on this topic earlier. But if you do more on Gutenberg, it will reach out to many. I am sure even experienced page builders will not know much about Gutenberg.
Great presentation. So many ideas on what to do next. Great description of the thought process for each. Very well done!
Thank you!
Excellent video, Danielle! WP needs your calm, practical outlook!
Wow. That is cool
Absolutely EPIC video, Danielle! 🙌 Subscribed and notifications turned ON! You did an awesome job explaining everything! Not sure if you're taking requests 😅 but I'm very interested in the block styles you set up in this video. I didn't even know that was possible. If you are looking to create more videos on this topic, I'd love to learn more about creating block styles, your workflow/process on that, etc.
Thank you!! I'll always take requests. I can definitely continue to do some workflow/process videos using block styles, especially since there are a few different ways to use them. Maybe some other topics will pop up along the way.
I'm a breakdancer lol but i love learning and understanding the future of wordpress. Gutenberg.
I haven't gotten the chance to test out Breakdance myself, it's always great to find a tool you like.
Even though Gutenberg is definitely not for me, I enjoyed this video. You clearly know what you're doing and you're pleasant to listen to.
Thanks I appreciate it!
Thanks for doing this.
Hi Danielle What do you think about the built in Google pass manager, associated to the Google account?
I haven't used it myself, I typically prefer to have a totally separate program that hands passwords rather than a browser or something tied to something as widespread as Google, but the most important thing is that passwords are secure, so if you find it helpful, it's a great start!
