Why do departments like yours put men and women in uniform with police on them and then make them a sitting duck with not being armed? You are just creating a victim as has happened in New York. I live in Michigan. I spent 26 years in public safety, 14 as a reserve police officer and when the sheriff's office took over the city for budget reasons, a reserve deputy and marine deputy. The entire time, we were fully uniformed and armed. Our police chaplain was uniformed and refused to shoot a gun...he was summarily dismissed from all duties beyond chaplain duties and the uniform was only ceremonial because the full time officers said they were not going to have to worry about their own lives and the chaplain's in a shoot out. You're in uniform, you're in the car as a employee, you will defend yourself. I finished off my working years as a campus safety officer for a private college and even in that role, I was fully uniformed and armed. Only cops got hired there, so it was a natural progression. Thus, I will never understand the mentality of reserves/auxiliaries that are put out in the field as uniformed targets and defenseless victims. If your full time officers need firearms, OC and tasers while they are in uniform...why can't aux get a gun and spray at the minimum and train them accordingly. Our prosecutor meets with all new reserves each year and explains we are uniformed and armed as the career officers and we will be judged just as harshly as the career officers if we screw. We train you to their standard, you will live up to it or pay the price. I never had reserve on my uniform anywhere, no opposite or different colors, my badge was standard issue "deputy" and I was not called Reserve Deputy on the road or in public. It was only a deliminator on the inside of the department. We all knew the limits of our own authority when on our own. Otherwise, we are and will be treated as and considered an equal in the department.

I appreciate these being on CZcams and able to have the computer-generated speech-recognition captions on. Could there be more camera angles to allow viewers to see speakers who are not seated at the tables and when there are items projected on the screens? Else, providing a link to where anything that is projected can be viewed separately (such as a Google Drive link) would be very helpful. Thank you for positioning the camera angle in such a way that it is unlikely to be obstructed and for the giggle I get "looking down" at our leadership this way.

They want to get to know the neighborhoods. Now that's funny. Around 3 years ago. My grandson was four year old was on our back porch and waved at a police officer and was so excited to see him. The officer backed up and said "what's your problem". I said nothing my grandson was waving hello to you. He then said well I don't have time for that crap and drove away. To this day my grandson is still hestitate to talk to a officer or say hello. That is such a shame. Police Officers should be friendlist to our little ones and not scare them for just trying to say hello.

I'm sorry but this video comes off as incredibly petty, even though my family and I don't park in the street. You actually mark tires and measure mileage on cars? I would rather you apply that diligence - and our tax dollars - to getting rid of the meth heads, heroin dealers, school bomb threat makers, sex offenders, bank robbers, gang bangers, and other scum that lurks around Lakewood, rather than harassing people about parking more than 24 hours. i suppose it take less effort and generates more revenue for the city to go after harmless parking offenders rather than catch the real criminals.

So the police ship in and distribute the crack and other drugs, get the community members to rat out the drug users, and the cops then seize the house car bank account and possessions of the drug user that is using the drugs the cops sneak into our towns. Quite a nice little scam. Oh, by the way, police are 500% more likely to murder you then the average citizen. Wonder who the *real* criminals are? Now you know!

Nicely done. I was never specifically aware of this program until now, but it explains a lot about what I have seen in the community. What a fantastic and proactive step to keep our city strong and positive. Keep it going and keep it funded!
