Brilliant fake Messiah story
I finished the series this week and found it to absolutely magnificent.
I honestly thought it would was pretty disappointing but i went in thinking it would be as good as the last one but i did enjoy it so it was just good.
"Ends, Starts and Leaves" :P
Beautifully understated poignancy is by far my favourite genre. Genius when it is done well, as it is here. Such a beautiful film.
Both Midnight Mass and Fall of the House of Usher are outstanding
Viggo is amazingly talented and I have little doubt this will be a good movie.
Reggie stood on his business...
He was in the wedding scene of the last movie too
I had high hopes for this movie. The trailers were cut so well. The movie was acceptable but not as grest as I wanted it to be. Also for the aesthetic, I thought the end title of how many people died in his battles was unnecessary. First the opponents casualties were far worse; but this was also when kings and generals were playing Age of Empires there was little value for human life I hope they do release the 4 hour cut.
Took my teenage sister to this earlier and we both loved it. She's watching Fury Road tomorrow
Unfortunately this one really didn’t work for me. Too aimless, and just became tiresome, perhaps it would all click into a better rhythm the second time around but I’m not sure it has earned that privilege
It was like a specially extended Inside #9, but very believable and as cringe-inducing as The Curse series
Ghost Watch, with a drizzle of The Exorcist on a bed of the Blair Witch Project. There was even a sniff of Hallowe'en 3 dashed in there. Was good, well made/acted but a greatest hits of other films.
Vicky krieps is the most talented actress working today
The music was so bad, really distracting and ruined a couple of scenes, had to mute the end scene
Even the smallest parts in Linklater films are entertaining characters.
This was good, Suspiria remake is a bit of a masterpiece tho
Aside from any problems with the storyline, the biggest issue with these newer Garfields is that the late Lorenzo Music is simply unbeatable as the voice. I will admit, however, that Bill Murray makes somewhat more sense than Chris Pratt.
It was alright. Left me a bit cold at everything from the boat scene onwards; I felt he never really had an arc to speak of, like the writers weren’t quite sure what to do with him in the few scenes before the ending (which itself also made no sense, given the protagonist’s evident “talent”)
God Kermode your hands are massive
Kermode is wrong about his reservations. There isn’t enough material to exclude the family drama. The bite that’s there is the perfect amount of, anymore and it becomes repetitive and loses its bite. It’s why the first ending pulls away from making a spoon feeding speech. Like one of the other comments mentioned the family drama is the film asking question why this conflict, this drama within an African American family isn’t enough.
Mark's review is probably more entertaining the film 😄
The ‘dream’ sequence was an actual Polish girl that hid apples in the coal piles for the prisoners would find while picking up the coal for the furnaces. It kept some of them alive a bit longer.
Loved it ! Love all the Mad Max films. None are anywhere close to being "Mediocre!!!" 😅More, more, more please.
Saw it. An incredibly stupid film.
Bad take.
Bag of shite!
just goes to show that good TV can be written and made...
Didn't really enjoy blue beetle, found myself just not caring about any of the characters unfortunately, but I haven't got any animosity towards the people that did.
Cinema underperforming under the weight of DEI and THE MESSAGE, perhaps?
Missed the film's glaring fault. The ending. It falls absolutely to pieces in the last ten minutes.
Superb series. I loved the fact that These Days by Nico was in there as a song too… it was refreshing to hear a soundtrack that didn’t feel too contrived to being set in the 70’s.
Really fun film. Go see it with friends.
This movie is a masterpiece and I’m gonna watch it again I’m still trying to process it but I love it
The phrase 'nuclear family' was a poor choice, Mark, given the film...
Watched it this afternoon… and it was an experience! Loved it but it made my head hurt! 🤯. Glad I had a coffee before I went in! Unique themes, great acting (especially Lea Seydoux 😍) and visuals, and one of those films that really leaves an impression on you afterwards. However it’s also complex, ambiguous and long, so won’t be for everyone and caffeine is essential! 😁
Just seen it. Really enjoyed it.
Watching Mark review Bad Boys 5 calls to mind a line from another successful buddy cop franchise -- that being Lethal Weapon, and the line-in-question being "I'm getting too old for this shit." He is getting too old for this sorta thing -- all of which makes his verdict on it largely irrelevant. He should spend his time elsewhere, watching cinema that his wizened elderly mind can actually keep up with. Love the Bad Boy series. It's -- more than anything else -- pure, edge-of-your-seat entertainment.
I couldn't get through this movie.. I was SO bored I turned it off about 2/3 through.. and I so rarely do that. Such a weird story... Nothing happened? It actually felt like some characters were thrown in as crutches to move the story forward or fill time. For such lush animation and rendering, it felt like such a waste.
With regards to Gary Oldman, he also said he's never happy with any of his performances.
I LOVED IT! Well worth seeing on a big screen with great sound. Magnificent.
I've compared them to Fury Road being your favourite heavy metal album and Furiosa is the experimental, proggy follow up. Both incredible.
He had fun acting in this movie. And it shows
LOVED IT simply on virtue of it being with puppets and being about confronting daddy issues. My only complaint is the structure of some of the scenes seemed out of place/order sometimes. Like when we first saw Misha that was seemingly out of nowhere and we didnt get the garbage men til later. *SPOILERS*.I also didn't like how at the end of one episode it gave us Edgar so quickly, I felt liike the mystery of him being alive or not was very compelling and knowing he was alive sort of deflated some of the currrent conflict, if they'd of just held off a bit longer I think it would've kept some momemtum I feel the middle portion of the show lacked.
