    I have an idle issue in a 2013 Lancer ES - In park it is not too bad but the idle is still going up and down. When I put the car in drive and say I am stopped at a light the idle goes up and down like 500-600RPM and the car wants to jump forward. I know I do not have an EVO but do you think a vacuum leak can cause this too? Or is there something easier to do first?

    • @itsnevo8757
      @itsnevo8757 Před 6 dny

      @@m.t.v.7934 when you have vacuum leaks it definitely can cause issues with your idle but there are a few sensors that can also mess with your idle as well. If you want to check if you have a vacuum leak, just start spraying something like water from a spray bottle onto any vacuum lines and the moment you spray it onto a vacuum leak the idle should stop surging. Just take your time spraying so you can identify where specifically the leak is coming from. You should also be able to head an audible hissing noise if you have a vacuum leak. You can start to feel around each vacuum line if you hear a hissing sound and the moment your fingers cover the vacuum leak, the idle should become normal. The Idle air control valve (IACV) could be bad on your car as well. I’ve purchased several for my Evo and had the idle act differently with each IACV I installed. At least for the Evo, it sounds like it’s a common part to go bad and it sounds like many people have replaced them and instantly had no more idle problems. The problem is the price can vary from $20 to $350 or more and I’ve heard several people say don’t buy a cheap one because it’s hit or miss if it even works and could act up quickly after installing. I was always told buy direct from the dealership to have the best chance but those are pricy, especially if it’s not the cause of your issue. The throttle position sensor and the cam sensor are also some of the sensors that can cause an issue with idle surge as well.

    I've been dealing with idle issues since I bought my Evo 8. 03 as well. The car will either cold start correctly or it won't. If you give it load then neutral the car it dies. The car almost dies then catches itself coming to lights. Ive had several people look at it and can't figure the issue out. I haven't been able to enjoy the car since I bought it almost 2 years ago due to this issue. I'm going to check this out and see if mine may be the same. I'm ready to launch this car off a cliff at this point with the amount of money I've spent trying to dial the idle. Rebuilt the entire throttle body, multiple tuning sessions, boost leak tests, etc. Makes me miss my Evo X. Never had any issues with the car, ever lol

      I discovered my boost gauge wasn’t reading vacuum at the range it should be at and I was able to track a leak in the rubber line running from the engine bay into the interior, it looks like it was a factory line that was capped so it would be easier to connect a boost gauge. That rubber hose was really dried out and had a split of about an inch where it mounted to the hard line in the engine bay on the passenger side by the firewall. Since fixing that issue I haven’t really noticed any new idle issues but I haven’t really been driving it much. I travel for my job so I haven’t been home all that much lately.

    I absolutely love these 456 GTA's because of their looks and rarity. BUT... it has to be said that Ferrari quality is a complete joke. This car was a quarter of a million dollars when new, and there are so many issues wrong with this example it's not even funny. For starters...how often do you think those headlight doors were opened and closed over the life of this car???? Maybe 100??? Maybe 250??? And the motors have to rebuilt because they are worn out??? Are you freaking kidding me?? There's ZERO excuse for that. None. And then windows that won't align properly??? Really??? I 1962 Ford Falcon has better door sealing qualities than this Ferrari with aluminum pins in the scissor mechanicisms that can't take normal wear of the windows going up and down over a brief amount of tiime??? It's not like this car was a daily driver or anything. You can keep this thing.

    • @itsnevo8757
      @itsnevo8757 Před 2 měsíci

      I agree, there is a lot of truth to the statement that Ferrari builds motors and you get a car with it. The focus for Ferrari was always the motor, the design was always done by companies like Pininfarina. The craftsmanship of the rest of the car wasn’t really as big of a priority for them. Previous to me owning this car, it was always kept in the Southern California area so it was driven year round and it was a corporate owned car for the first 44,000 miles so it was daily driven quite a bit. From what I’ve heard, the headlight motors get dirty and then start to fail but they can be disassembled, cleaned out, regreased and will often work again so that’s the route I’m going to go. Currently it has almost 73,000 miles on it so it’s been used more than many Ferraris

      Thats awesome!! I’ve always wondered how many A6 TDI’s are out there similar to mine! Since I replaced this taillight, I haven’t had this issue. I don’t know if there’s a better way to get the taillight to be sealed up tight so moisture cannot enter the taillight but it seemed like the original taillight was constantly giving me error codes. It almost seemed like the original lens wasn’t fully sealed all around the lens. I tried adding silicone before I replaced the light, but kept getting codes. Luckily I haven’t had any coolant issues at all. In fact, the only issues I’ve had with this car at all have been with the lane departure camera going out, the taillight issue and I recently noticed I have a cracked brake rotor. I have new rotors and pads for it, but haven’t had the time to replace them yet.

Sometimes people have random parts laying around that they have been collecting and they forget what vehicle that part is for. I’ve found lots of rare parts by that method. That part number is for the silver pedals, they also had blue pedals available at the time as well but I don’t know the part number for those. I totally understand, sometimes aftermarket pedals fit right on and sometimes you have to try to rig something up to make them work. I remember seeing lots of OEM pedals for Mitsubishi listed on eBay and I’m sure Mitsubishi probably has a pretty consistent size and shape of pedal for most of their models so if guess if you found a pedal kit for any Mitsubishi around the same era, it would probably fit.

      @itsnevo8757 Před 11 měsíci

      Unfortunately I did film that part but for some reason my phone decided to delete that video for some reason. I sanded it down and then I painted primer only on those areas where the paint was chipped off. I sanded it a bit more to make sure the surface looked smooth and then I sprayed several coats of the storm metallic grey paint onto the center console without a clear coat. I didn’t want to have a high gloss or a matte finish so keeping it just the base coat made it look pretty close to original. I may also paint the trim around the radio and climate control panel so I’ll make sure that part of the video is included lol

    Very nice! Best color on the Evo! How much did you get it for? Did you know it was due a timing belt change before it broke?

    • @itsnevo8757
      @itsnevo8757 Před 11 měsíci

      Thank you! I bought it for $16,000. I suspected it was due for a timing belt change because the previous owner made it sound like it may have been changed one or maybe two times in the past. The previous owner only had the car for about 6 months so it sounded like he wasn’t really sure about the maintenance history. 10 minutes before the timing belt snapped I was actually on the phone with the Mitsubishi dealership asking them about the timing belt service. My plan was always to rebuild the motor anyways and because the timing belt snapped I bought a second motor so it kinda worked out anyways. I can now rebuild the original motor and still drive the Evo until it’s rebuilt.

    Beautiful! Pasha interior fits well in these cars! So nice to see a pristine example in a sea of beglected 928s

      Yeah, it’s a shame people didn’t take better care of these 928’s. I think the interior on this car really makes it extra cool.

    I'm actually kind of hurt... I was set up near the exit opposite the Scooby-Doo trailer... I had my '99 Olds Bravada with my matching S10 trailer set up with "Y2K -End of Radwood" parody joke signs... you were panning over stopped right at the jeep with trailer, and started back up at the red caprice... you skipped over me as if I wasn't there

      I’m sorry, I skipped some cars that had groups of people blocking the view and ended up missing a few cars by the entrance and all the cars right by the river. I planned on making a lap near the entrance and getting all the cars near the river but never got the chance

      No problem! I have gone to the Detroit one one time before and heard there was another one last year that I somehow missed so it would be cool to let others know the event even exists.

      Awesome! I’m glad I can help! These are great cars! Just watch out because if you buy an earlier one, I believe ones from around 2012 or older, they had some issues with timing chains or something like that so it could require more expensive maintenance

    How did you color match the ashtray lid?

    • @itsnevo8757
      @itsnevo8757 Před rokem

      I actually had several spray paints and sprayed them onto a piece of plastic to see which one matched the factory color the closest. I took the whole panel surrounding the ash tray and shifter off and painted that as well. I believe the color that I ended up using was Duplicolor BGM0522 Storm Grey Metallic which is a GM color.
