Lies from the pit of hell and also ignorance. First of all, let me educate you better, Afrobeat us different from Afrobeats. Afrobeat was coined by Fela who got the inspiration from Ghana and then he added some few things and fine tuned it,he named it afrobeat. Now go back to the 1920's till when Fela died nobody played the type of music (afrobeat) Fela did, his style was unique. But yes he got influences from Ghana, that much is true. However, what is known today as afrobeats (with an S) is a type of music in Nigeria that has nothing to do with the type of music Fela played but instead a music that evolved from Nigerians trying to sing pop music, hip-hop music and rap music by Nigerians to Nigerians. We used to consume majorly foreign music but Nigerians started giving it the local flavor by adding pidgin, Nigerian local languages and even adding elements of our indigenous music. As this became more accepted we started going to the UK with the help of promoters and some record labels like Kennis Music thereby giving it more popularity. Collaborations with snoop dog(dbanj and snoop in Mr endowed) and Kanye noticing dbanj further helped us. Afrobeats is just semantics, Nigerians knows their sounds if they hear it. Afrobeats is now widely accepted and everyone is claiming it, even Koreans are doing it. Anyways Ghana has something similar and if they want to call it afrobeats I have no problem with that. But don't get it twisted. Go to Netflix and watch the documentary on afrobeats and it's evolution.

You cannot single out a tribe in the success of afrobeats pls, don't be parochial. The alaba guys did it as a business because it was profitable but what about the content creators and those who took the music to the UK and US giving it much publicity. Let's give it to Kennis Music and Mohits records.
