Production team | Fly fishing tips and tricks, travel, and fly tying
Mop Fly Productions (MFP) was brought to life by the spirit of its own namesake. Unconventional, the mop fly catches flack from fly fishing purists, but no one can argue that this funky little fly is incredibly effective, has a diverse range of applications, is adored by many, and it simply gets the job done. MFP is just that in a nutshell. Our content covers all aspects of fly fishing, from tying knots to tying flies, traditional trout fishing to targeting unusual species, successes and failures, and all of the small but very meaningful moments in between that make this sport so special. Passion for fly fishing, the outdoors, community, and connection is the common thread running through all that MFP creates, and we're excited to share it with you.

Ugh!
Im going to surf in Rincon in november but want to bring my fly gear. Thoughts?
I would! It might be tough in Rincon with the surf, but looking on google earth it looks like you could find some fishy water just a little south of there!
Those are some awesome lakes man, nice video 👍
@@user-yg1dt4dn2j thank you, definitely a beautiful area!
cool Tiger Trout. I lived in Utah for 3.5years and I didn’t do any fishing 😢😢

You guys caught some awesome tigers! Great adventure!
@@395er thank you! We had a blast!
What restaurant is that at 6:11 ?!
Mamacitas!
Woah funny, we camped on that same mountain last year. Got a pic of the dog on the boulder in the turnout at the start. It was during hunting season so the whole top of the mountain was pretty occupied. Not bad, just glad I found a spot down low around 7k. My main goal was tenkara on the middle stretch of the creek then I did a little in one of the lakes. I got skunked HARD. But we had 0 mosquitoes and the aspens were in full color, so I can't complain.
@@jcarry5214 we thought it might look a little different around those parts during hunting season. We have already talked about going back for some fall colors!
@@MopFlyProductions. it was a solid A- on that part of the mountain. We’re both from northern New England so that’s about as good as the west can get from us, it was a nice bonus.
Great video
@@josenieves9165 thank you!
I know little to nothing about trout but man those tiger trout look so freakin cool!! Awesome video!
@@kodygrant2896 thank you! They sure are gorgeous!
Nice trip. You need to get a tube out on that first lake of day 3. It can be incredible. Lake 2 is probably the coolest place I've ever floated. It's only 33ft deep, but seems deeper.
@@UtahWaterLog it’s funny, we packed one with us in the ambulance but ended up never taking it with us to any of the lakes 🤦🏻♂️ I think if we each had one we would have been more inclined to hike em in!
great video guys!! I backpack and fly fish the Sierra's in California all the time for golden trout. I never give up names of lakes and Creeks, just general areas, make them earn it lol. That being said, I have a few questions. would you recommend this as a good backpacking/ camp area? lakes looked great, but was it thick brush for setting up camps by the lakes? lastly if you feel comfortable can I get a general area, southwest Utah, northeast etc. just wanted to see if it's worth the trip from California. don't mind doing the research, just need a starting point. if not no worries and keep the great videos coming. cheers
Thank you! Goldens in the Sierras are definitely high on the list! We have some lakes with them here in Colorado but it's just not the same! We have a very similar outlook on sharing names of lakes and creeks ;) I would say start with a google search of tiger trout in Utah. That's all we did. Utah has pretty good stocking reports and have stocked them all over the state. We have now checked out two different areas that have them in much different parts of the state. Both are worth checking out in our opinion.
Awesome video! Well done!
Thanks!
Nice video. Welcome to Southern Utah! Man, I can only imagine what the fuel costs are to feed that beast but, it's bad ass!
It's honestly not as bad as you'd think! we spent about 220$ on fuel and drove over a 1000 miles. camped out 4 nights. It was an awesome trip, and much cheaper than a hotel!
Great video guys! I’m from the south Texas coast and I’m jealous. Great fishing! I’m curious as to your gear. What was your reel and line for the trip?
We used 3 main set ups with an 8wt, 9wt, and 10wt reel. The 8 and 9 had Scientific Anglers amplitude grand slam floating line. The 10wt had the Scientific Anglers Sonar Grand slam clear tip, which is a sinking tip line so we could get down a little deeper in certain situations.
@@MopFlyProductions. thanks! Any particular reels work better in the saltwater for you? I need to find something sealed for our high salinity content.
@@FishiganMilligan yeah sealed drag is the main thing you are looking for. We use a mix of brands…. We really like our Galvan grip and our hatch iconic!
Great video. I, too, have unfinished business with some tarpon in Puerto Rico. Think about it almost every day. The folks at magic tarpon were great when I went out with them.
Totally there are some big dogs in there too!
DIY Fishing is just fishing lol stop acting all high and mighty because you aren’t fishing with a guide lol it’s just being a good fisherman lol
The only one acting high and mighty here is you bud!
lol dead how many times did you say DIY in this video lol. You’re just fishing, stop trying to act like you’re doing something special by not hiring a fucking guide lol.
It was my first Fibark Festival was a lot of fun, and water is running so high this time of year too!
Awesome video!
Thank you very much!
awesome! loved it

Cool vid! Really nice

Nice video! I fell in love with Puerto Rico my first time fishing there! , and returned many times. The tarpon fever never ends.......
