Unfortunately no, you would need a surface skimmer. Do you have a regular tank with a hang on filter?

@@heatwavereefer671 i have a reg tank with 2 canister filters. A uv light. Wave pump and heater. Im thinking of a tunze 9004 skimmer. It does surface skimming but didn't want to spend over 200 on it....and advice ?

What size is your tank? I would suggest on your returns from your filter get them towards your water line to agitate it or the wave maker… to help break up the oils… maybe adding like a tidal hang on back filter to help agitate the top…

😂 for $65 2 years is worth it… I usually swap tanks about every 2 years… I’ll keep it posted

Yeah it just takes some time to break in… you shouldn’t have micro bubbles after some time…

So I did that and nothing goes into the cup… I had it set like that for a few days and cup was empty 😢… but I’m ok with the wet skim for right now… I’m still fiddling with it every week.. hahaha not a bad little guy for $65

Are you getting a dryer skim? Yeah mine I have to keep adjusting probably every 3-4 days… my skim is starting to not be so full of water… I’m thinking it just needed a break in… but it’s been like a month for me 😅

wouldnt say a dry skim but its fairly dark and not a ton of water I just keep adjsuting it so the micro bubbles are at the bottom cup level and it eventually starts producing the larger bubbles that travel to the top. they seem to come and go though. @@heatwavereefer671

In all honesty it was the biggest piece of junk… and xp aqua had horrible customer service… I will never buy or recommend ever again 😂… my friend has one and he also has nothing but issues…

I had the same issue, I couldn’t fit it with the light so I kept it on the side… it was good for a few months… it ended up springing a leak… 😢 so I moved on from that item… ended up just getting a different tank after that lol.. what tank do you have?

@@heatwavereefer671 sorry to hear that that’s a nightmare to deal with.I think I will leave it on the side for now I have a Jbj Rf 45 gallon it doesn’t take up a lot of room I can still see a good 5 or 6 inches of the display under the refugium. How many gallons is your new tank

No, I ended taking it down… it popped a leak… it was good for a few months… wasn’t worth purchasing again

Hey Franklin, production is good. I get about 5 gallons in 20 mins, at the same time I probably discard maybe 2-3 gallons? Not 100% sure. Unit has been flawless… would recommend but I don’t think they sell them anymore 😅

Honestly it wasn’t bad, I used it for about 6 months… If you can find it used. Go for it… not sure it was worth the full price. Issues I ran into was the flow through it. I felt it needed more. filter pad I placed on exit side somehow clogged up and it overflowed. Careful on adding any extra filter pads. LOL.

I appreciate that buddy, Tank was broken down after 6 months.. I feel it was a little too small for my clown fish as they are good sized. 😅 Great starter tank but I prefer the slightly larger ones. Issues I came across was that it seemed to be a little too small for a power head and the biggest return pump I got in there wasn’t enough movement in the tank So I had a lot of areas where stuff would settle and Cyano would grow. Power head in and sand blew everywhere so I broke it down and moved to a 50 gallon. I will be posting videos on that soon. Been a little lack on videos as 2021 kept me busy. 2022 back to videos. :)

@@heatwavereefer671 got it, thank you! I’m planning to do the same with my Nuvo 10. Nice! I also have a waterbox Frag 85.3 set up. A lot easier to keep things stable with a larger setup.

@@jasonp567 LOL 100% I have been wanting to try waterbox but haven’t pulled that trigger yet but it will most likely be my next set up way down the line 😅 Just set up my 50 lagoon so I need at least 2 years with it before its swapped haha. I had as many as 3 tanks running and I wont make that mistake again. 1 is enough… Good Luck with the 10!

This was my first unit, I have read about the DI, but everything has been doing great, So I haven’t been to concerned I have been triple checking the numbers from the unit display with aftermarket testers and It’s been running solid. :) I do like the fact that you pointed that out! Good Catch! :)

I added it to the side of the tank which didn’t bother me. Putting it in the back would of free’d up my space for viewing but I was already in the works on getting a new tank. :)

I did use it for a good few months but I ended up switching to another tank. It definitely gave me some space to put in my media. Macro algae didn’t grow to well in it but it could of been the light I was using.

You can definitely use it as a filter, if you set it up like that. It’s almost makes your tank like an all in one. Filter pad on the exit side and drop some carbon in it. And some media balls.. It wont surface skim.. other than that would work decently.

Honestly, I did not like this unit and have since removed it. The sensor keeps a constant water level, if it were to drop below for a few seconds the water kicks on. But I do not recommend this product. Hope that helped/ :)

@@heatwavereefer671 that's a first i'm hearing of it not being recommended. why not? any other option for hob ato because i didn't find anything else that works without a sump

@@MrDon967 In all honesty… the unit was placed in my lagoon 25 gallon. Had it on for 3 months.. had nothing but issues. Constant adjustment of the unit. Either too much or not enough water going in. Filters get clogged up fast if you put any padding in it, unit warped and water was coming in from sides. I am still to this day using the ATO but the overflow was tossed in the trash. There are a few options out there but nothing I’ve seen really wows me. Aquatop has a surface skimmer on Amazon for $30 that looks interesting. Called the Aquatop ATP Skmr surface. You can check that out. All in one tanks are also awesome if your interested in that… :) let me know

Good Question! This one actually didn’t come with the Mightyjet. It came with the older Innovative marine pump. I think I got part of the last batch before the mightyJets Were put in it. But I did get the mightyJet in my new 25 lagoon and I almost swapped that out 😂 It was SO LOUD for the first 2 weeks then it finally broke in. I took that think out and apart like 5 times trying to figure out why it was so loud... as I was getting ready to purchase a new pump it finally quieted down.

I have a newer video of me breaking it down and explaining each item. :) If I were you just get an all in one. The hang on stuff not too good. Hope this helps!

It didn’t skim very good for me at 75% closed at the bottom trying to utilize the skimmer so I wouldn’t need to get one... I needed additional for my 25 gallon lagoon. Overall is filtered great and was super quiet. Buuutttt skimming was a weak point...
