I recently lost my father whose many friends in Pennsylvania were Irish, and they had the most charming habit of sitting in the family room and singing songs acapella after making merry while having cake and coffee at the dining room table. This piece is making me cry like a baby. They're all gone now. The Lions of the hills are gone. May they sing their songs among the stars.

Two things: Once again, this is a tune that I needed to work on for the band I'm playing in, and your video is perfect. These videos are absolutely beautifully played, lovely and relaxed, and perfect for learning tunes and playing along. BUT, I recently found this video of your playing: czcams.com/video/hJDl8x9edQE/video.html. From your own site, I would have never guessed how good you really are, or that you could play with such fire. You should post some performance quality stuff like this on your own site along with the teaching content, to show people what you can really do. Now I know that you are a more awesome musician than I realized!

Thanks you Liz! I am a clawhammer banjo player, and just got a fiddle a week ago. Ive been working on scales and bow work, but wanted to play "Angeline the Baker". You made it very easy to do. I printed off blank fiddle tabs and filled em in as you went. Im now playing A the B and it actually sounds good. My wife and daughter have been surprised at how good it sounds so quickly. Your instructions are very good... thanks again. I'm sure I'll be watching many of your videos!

Great tune Liz and you do an excellent job teaching it. I've avoided downloading the sheet music in order to force myself to learn it using the call and response method and I'm very happy with the result.

Hey everyone. I had the privilege of meeting Liz at one of her folk ensemble sessions in August at the Concord Community Music School where she teaches. If you live in the area or just passing through check out the school for upcoming adult folk, teen folk, lessons and more throughout the rest of the year. You will be amazed. Liz and her brother, Dan, are so easy going and the 2 hour session was incredible. We had a group of about 12 fiddle, banjo, guitar and a piano player learning a Breton tune. Thanks Liz. Well done ... I agree with all you said. Scales and arpeggios have been part of my practice routine for years. I play a scale, say C scale on my viola, then a C arpeggio, then F (4th chord) arpeggio and a G7 (V 7nth) . If you are a fiddle player the same holds if you start on 3rd finger on the G string. For example C E G C G E C, then C F A C A F C (F or IV chord) and D G B D B G F D (G7 or V7).
