AI Art for Interactivity
Give me a Sign
Artists: Diane Edwards (UK) and Upasana Nattoji Roy (India)
A mesmerising piece that invites audiences to engage with
an illusionary, child-like AI entity called ‘Shunya’. This piece seamlessly combines on the one hand the aesthetic of traditional Indian dance forms, with the aesthetics palette of science fiction and other-worldliness. Repurposing mudras or hand gestures from the Indian classical dance vocabulary, the artwork invites its audiences- young and old to practice and formulate these gestures in front of the machine. The machine learns to recognize the various mudras that become triggers for the audiovisual experiences crafted using generative AI.
Wood Wide Web
Artists: Kanchan Joneja (India) and Kristina Pulejkova (UK), Anupam Mahajan (India) and Cameron Naylor (UK)
An interactive artwork that leverages Artificial Intelligence to highlight critical and endangered tree ecosystems from India and the UK telling stories of their erasure. Presenting rather evocatively, an ethereal display with the colours, textures, highlights and movements, the artists reawaken these sleeping giants who come alive and espouse their wisdom. Research including a collection of sounds, interviews, and visual data from the field by Farmers for Forests (India) and the Kew Gardens Library and Archive (London) furnish the AI models that are trained to generate the text spoken by the the trees, and render their textures as they swerve and dance to match the movement of the audiences using skeletal tracking technology.

Our German artist in-residence, Jérôme Chazeix, assembled different media - sculpture, video, music, costume, and performance into a seamless installation that took to the streets, under the Richmond Road flyover. He worked closely with our team and invited artists to develop this work using local visual language and cultural cues.

To Celebrate International Women’s Day, we turned the public space under the flyover into a safe space of immersion where we draw, paint, and doodle, moved by the moods of the music that envelopes the moment. Malini Sasidharan helped us unpack the idea of self-care with a symphony of Carnatic music. With her vocal performance and art facilitation, the event allowed her to build a nurturing spac...

Very interesting discussion but none of these ideas will be implemented. Today people having bought sites construct their home without leaving that required space from the next plot. Why cannot the govt start taking action against house owners who construct their houses without a car parking space and park their cars on the road next to their house. Fine them or penalize them. If they start this maybe people will learn how to value someone else's property. Many house owners have being doing this.

The past is indeed a foreign country. My family immigrated to Australia 70 years ago. I returned to discover what was left and found nothing but echoes of the past. Here and there a glimpse of how things used to be. Even the people had changed. Life is going forward, not backwards.

Its nice to see Margaret here talking on Whitefield. Marge was earlier a Nee Johnson and her Gramps would go fishing with me and old Shipman sometimes who lived in Hannah Mitchells place. Off course all the lovely music at the club would sometimes be played by Commander Lunel who had some awesome folded horn Klipschorn speakers with a Teleton amp and SME gold ring turntable with a shure cartridge to boot. She also talks of good old Merlyn Barnes who lived at the rear of Massabielle on borewell road where Marge lived in formative years also. Those were the days I guess.

Good to see Meer make a comment here. I remember his brother Aslam and myself were good friends as I'm the son of the ex president of the Anglo Indian settlers association Sydney G. Smith a well known journalist who lived there. Off course Whitefield got its name due to Mr.White who lived at Rock haven which later got to be owned by Quentin Blake's mother. In fact even Sir Winston Churchill Prime Minister of England had resided for 3 months at Rock Haven in the early days. I remember Meer's father and uncle were known as bade Mamu and Chotte Mamu. The boys working there were Arif,Chand Basha and late Abid Ahmed Shareiff's brother.
