    Can confirm Xida coilovers transform this car. I run touring spring rates on my ND2 club and RE71RS on stock wheels. It is FAST for how soft it is. Alignment, tires and suspension get the steering feel back.

    Steering is supposed to be better on the EN than the VN. There are improvements made to the front control arm bushings and in the chassis to improve steering. I dont think steering can be compared unless the two are on the same wheel and tire setup. If the VN was on a more stretched tire setup, that could definitely make the difference.

    Im still satisfied with my 23 brz...brembos would look nice and the performance no real difference then pad/fluid swap with standard caliper. TS are Over priced for what you get.

    Nice review! It looks like you upset the ABS by hitting both curbs hard on each side during the chicane. Just looks like you went in a lil too hot IMO.

    Regarding the rev hang, I have read that this can be fixed by installing a "throttle controller", a digital device that changes the car's throttle response including rev hang on shifts. Not sure whether one of these would put you in a higher mod bracket in the racing rules.

  • @lojts
    @lojts Pƙed 6 dny

    Also gen2 owner here, and for me, rev hang the number 1 gripe no doubt. Thank god the issue is less bad at higher revs tho. When you say power steering won’t keep up when you load up the wheels, can you elaborate bit more of that please?

    • @DriversPaddock
      @DriversPaddock Pƙed 6 dny

      Essentially, There is a sudden steering stiffness under high load. The power steering rack cuts out as if it can't keep up with the loads generated on high-g corners or big transitions. As some have said
This is NOT being caused by tire binding on the strut, it happens even in stock form if you are REALLY pushing the car. At 8/10ths and below, you won’t experience this. It’s not a huge issue, just a bit annoying and disappointing. I will say that really strong power steering like in the newer bmw’s
 really makes it numb
 so it’s a balance between feel, and assist
 Cheers.

    Yeah stock suspension was pretty tough. I’m installing the camber plates for the next track day, mine is no aero. Yeah it’s a lot of trail braking to get the front to grip up but it’s got loads of power so idk, fun to drive for sure

  • @silvenshadow
    @silvenshadow Pƙed 7 dny

    I can see how a lot of this can be subjective too. I love my gen2's stock setup, but it's sensitivity to trail braking isn't everyone's cup of tea. I think you hit the nail on the head with the non-ts being setup to be fast rather than sporty.

    What on earth does "power steering can't handle the corners" mean? On a _new car???_ Whatever the problem is, it's unacceptable in a car explicitly intended for this kind of use. I hope there's a fix, and would expect it to be done for free if I owned one

    Thoughts on CAE vs IRP for the shifter? EDIT: I wonder if the change to steel knuckles was to make the Brembos fit without changes from first gen. I know Essex had to revise their kits to work on 2nd gen. On the plus side, the whiteline roll center kit works with steel knuckles, but not alu. I "had to" get SPL LCAs and tie rods to get roll center correction on my 23 BRZ.

    I think you're doing the best driving dynamics analysis on these cars, great job! Is there a performance based reason why you chose the BRZ rather than GR86? As a BRZ owner it's nice to see it being featrured, seems there's so much content favors GR86 over BRZ. Also, the black color on the BRZ is fire - I want to trade in my silver 2022!

    Update to me initial comment; I was going to get a tune on my 2021 Cayman T, but I met some factory Porsche guys at Laguna Seca, who gave me some tips. The factory ECU mapping is dynamic and will adjust in near real-time. If you want max excitement from Cayman/Boxter T manual, you need to do a few simple things and I promise, you will get the fizz! First, put it in Sports +, deactivate Traction Control completely by holding down the button past PASM Sport setting (about 6 seconds). Second, use only a 1/4 tank of fuel. You don’t want to be pushing unnecessary extra weight around up front. For max pull and faster engine response (spool up) use 100 octane. Forced induction engines love octane and the Porsche H4T isn’t happy until the ECU maps for 98 octane or above. I’m running 35 PSI (hot) in Michelin Pilot Super Sports in the rear and P4S up front. Try this out for your self. I suggest a hill climb road, so you can really feel the increased torque this cheat-code delivers. You will also love the increased communication from the chassis with TC deactivated. You’re welcome! đŸ€Ș

    After owning one for two years, I can say there are shortcuts to turn off those functions. Additionally you shouldn't have to turn the assist braking functions more than once. You just put it into sport mode, then press on the globe in the top left corner while the menu for drive mode is still up and access the ESC from there. Its a three click process that I can do easily while driving even.
