I hope docs are still watching this, and I agree on getting an update, please. I had disseminated cocci from 2003-2006. I got it after the Cedar Fire in San Diego. The fire was across the street from our house and afterwards, bulldozers went through to stop the embers from flaring. It was that upheaval of the dirt that had the cocci spores I inhaled. I was immune compromised (diabetes, obesity, etc.) and got it good. While I was dx'd pretty early and was put on Itraconazole first, I was moved to fluconazole (Edit: 400mg flu qd x 3 years) after horrible reactions to itra. The worst sx (besides nodules and now ground glass lungs I have still in 2024,) was herpes meningitis. After two lumbar punctures showed what was happening, I was on Valcyclovir x 2 years. I was on the flu for 3 years total, with off an on itra and vori when it flared. When I had been on the flu for a couple of weeks, I went from San Diego to Orlando, that was when it kicked in bad with lesions that freaked the docs out. After they understood what I had, the Infectious Disease docs and students from around Orlando came in and "studied" me. I had biopsies of the lesions to see the spores, several imaging experiences, my first LP, and was talked about as if I wasn't there many times. I was glad to teach something new, though! I live in Orlando now and blessedly, no re-occurence, however I watch for it! I am no longer immuno-compromised, so that helps lots. Thanks for this! Great information.

the timeline for one gap year is absolutely wrong. Most medical schools have their deadline in Fall (mid-October) and interviews occur in spring.

The decline in tobacco is not the result of people quitting, it is the result of very high taxes on cigarettes that are driving the black market to sell cigarettes at the low rate of 5 to 10 dollars per packet. Now people can no longer afford regulated cigarettes [safer kind] they now buy unregulated cigarettes. They haven't quit smoking they just buy unregulated illegal cigarettes. Now what will that look like in 20 years on your health charts, I would imagine an explosion in lung cancers. Yet no explosion. Let's go deeper, cigarettes were made unaffordable in the late 99s and early 2000s. Keeping this in mind, lung cancer graphs do not show any significant drop in cancer or rise. If the health and research departments that supposedly monitor these statistics were to say, hey, this is not working, they stand to lose millions in tax dollars for their "research". This makes them compromised and more likely to produce reports that do not show true figures and are therefore falsified to continue the useless funding. Let's go down that rabbit hole, if documents are falsified to maintain government funding, who is accountable? It's not the company that falsified the documents in my opinion, but the unmanaged funding of fraudulent claims that taxes on cigarettes are generating fewer people smoking. Has the Government lost all sense of sanity? How did Al Capone make his fortune, wasn't it government banning alcohol? Yet here we are again? Out of touch with no forward thinking whatsoever. Billions in lost taxes from the conception of the failed plan to raise taxes on cigarettes, in an attempt to lesson tobacco comorbidities, recorded unchecked by large companies who are getting millions to research statistics when there are no solid figures to go by, AS CIGARETTES HAVE GOONE UNDERGROUND. Is eosinophilia related to mast Cell activation or is celiac disease responsible of it? Is the il15 also responsible ?

I was diagnosed with celiac disease ( Marsh 3b), then non responsive celiac disease, then Gerd with gastroparesis and then EoE. EoE was the only marker on my blood test since I have a seronegative celiac disease. On thursday I am going to have my first colonoscopy. ( Vitamin b12,folate and iron malabsortion unfortunately)
