I wish that was all the problem. I just had one of my magazines lose the bottom and throw bullets all over the range yesterday. The extender of the magazine is fairly soft, and it tends to open on the sides, going off the rails of the bottom of the magazine. When I put it back together, I could see how there was a small separation on the sides of the magazine extender, about 1 mm, but that's enough to make your bullets fly when you are putting the most pressure and loading that 20th bullet in you magazine. I opted for removing the extender and mounting the flush magazine plate.
Thank you so much. I assume you figured this out by making it look just like the other one that came with the extension already attached. Thanks for helping the rest of us that were over thinking the heck out of it. Who would have thought the plate goes on the outside?!?! No other mag does that. I wish I’d have been smart enough to look at the other magazine, first. Feeling stupid. Thanks again.
I'm wondering if the 17& 20 rounders both come with the same length spring. Have you ever counted the coils on both? Heard stories of the 20 rounder jamming, and low spring pressure might explain it.
There's definitely something not right with at least some of the magazines. Just yesterday i had one come apart in my pocket and after putting i it back together it did the same thing again today. Maybe I've just got a defective magazine?
Well shit just got one last week and was trying to figure out what the hell I did wrong, and now I know just this little piece of the puzzle. Oh yeah the pistol is awesome love it.
Thank you!! I watched another video saying to put it on the inside. Ammo went everywhere. A couple times. Even at the indoor range. Glad it was user error. Make more videos.
Even with this option, tap it hard enough and guess what? It’s like a jack in the box. Spring, follower and 20 rounds go flying everywhere. SA is aware of it and waiting on a fix.
Interesting. Do you have the gun, and has this happened to you? Would you be able to post a quick video showing the base plate installed correctly, and the hard tap causing the round to fall out? If so, I will take this video down. I wouldn't want to spread misinformation
I have the gun the only way it explodes is if installed incorrectly or overload the magazine. The magazine will accept 2 more rounds but if it bumps anything it will explode
I love videos like this. Thank you! I wish all CZcams followed this “low budget- raw- straightforward” format. No like, follow, sub mention BS. Loved it. And guess what. I liked, and followed. Keep it 100 bro. I’ll check and fix my echelon mags when they arrive. Thanks again
This was great! I was seriously considering getting the Echelon over a PDP and then all the problem vid started hitting YT. After this video I think I'm back to it as my next purchase. I guess my question would be to Springfield Armory as to why the tabs aren't on the outside coming from the factory?
I just brought this gun and that was one of my main concerns but I was fortunate enough to not experience this because the difference in the back of the clip is noticable so just correct the position to match the original 🤯 lol
@@willschaust7978 It shouldn't. Remove the floor plate and move the follower (with the spring attached) up and down on the mag body by hand. Feel for binding while moving it up and down. If you don't feel any, more likely than not, the spring is in the incorrect orientation, or the has bent during the assembly, disassembly. Good luck!
I had already seen another video showing the same thing, so I already knew the fix, but apparently A LOT of people don't know and they need to see your video, so I liked it and I'm commenting to help the algorithm. Fortunately I hadnt shot it yet, so no magazine malfunction for me. 😁 The Echelon is my first gun purchase ever. I've been looking for months and thought I had my mind made up with Canik, but when I saw the Echelon, I knew it was the one. Now I need the Holosun SCS 320. It fits it like it was made for it.
My local gun range has this to rent free if you are a member. Obviously, I got my free rental yesterday and shot 50 rounds through the Echelon. It had my curiosity but now it has my attention. Grip was amazing and very accurate. Will be picking up one soon.
I think the problem is that more than a few of the magazines came factory assembled wrong… mine was … glad the fix is so easy .. i literally had this happen to me .. i tapped that base plate loading the mag and it popped off and ammo dumped everywhere and the spring shot out …
Very helpful tip man. I am looking into the Echelon or the XDM Elite 5.25. Was very skeptical because of the mags falling apart on the Echelon. Might be considering it again now that I see its user fault and not the factory when they fall apart. Keep up the awesome content. Your great at showing what is needed and informative. 😎🤘
Bud I have one and have not had mag issues at all but I have not taken my mags apart either but could totally see me putting that back together wrong! The gun is amazing in my opinion! Was worried about mag issues but starting to think it’s a non issue!
@@jaytearsofblood2879- true. Glock got it right and they been doing good. If you want a gun like this. Change out plastic sights is basically the only upgrade you need to do for glock.
I wanna get this gun but the magazine blowing up made me think about it again this video reassured me
Thank you so much ❤

people need to read the manual
Thank you for that it really helped
Thank you for posting!
That's dumb. Why didn't Springfield just make the tab wider so it's obvious.

While it looks goofy, if you analyze it, it's logical because that way the floor plate can't possibly move forward. Looks dumb Works simply
Thank you!

Go figure, install it correctly and it works. Wow what a concept.
They updated the online manual to address this a while back, i can see how if youve put mags together for years that this would be easy to do wrong.
Quick easy straight to the point

I want to say thank u so so much. I went to a gun range and i went to load up to save time. And when i loaded it. I do want to say thank u
Thanks so much for posting a vid on how to fix the problem.
Is this why people's mags were popping open during testing?
The correct way is the same way that the factory 20-round mag is assembled. I don’t know why anyone was confused.
Thanks for the information on how to fix the problem
I had the same problem with some extended Sig mags, same fix. Apparently, someone at the manufacturer doesn't know how to do the job correctly
That’s was a great super fast and easy fix to follow! Keep it up man!

There’s several people experiencing the follower getting stuck and causing malfunctions. Any update on what to do?
yes. Install the base plate as I did on this video. The spring is binding because of the movement in the baseplate.
@@derekwest2 my follower was binding even with correctly installed baseplates

Haaa....of course...i got it right the first time. Its common sense, right lol😊
What i did. Good job now people can stop whinning. 👍🤙👍
Excellent vid, hopefully many people see it
Who TF thought having that flange OUTSIDE the mag was a good idea???
I also was thinking this
thank you
My next gun, good timing. Thanks!
Thank you for this.
Great Video!
if you want a modular pistol, just get the sig p320 its better in every way

I don't know if you have made your decision yet but I just traded an XDM elite for an echelon and I am so happy that I did.

Thanks! This is probably my new favorite gun
So.. the fix, read the instructions. Don't be dumb. 😂
hahaha. Yep. Even funnier is that after having problems with the mag, people still didn't read the manual, and posted negative reviews for content
Even easier fix don't buy the this trash side arm

Don't have that gun but appreciated your video. Thank you.
Good video. I just bought one. The reason I knew this trick was because I change allot of my baseplates out on other weapons
