I think it's that I know the amount of planning, practicing, and thought that was for some friends of mine, the most important and terrifying moments of their lives. With some, you see it involves families and travel. An engagement and marriage means being out and public and it is often accompanied by rejection, job loss and other difficult reactions. So, it does make me feel a certain type of way when someone who doesn't know, trivializes the whole thing in the word "fake".

I never feel jealous of other couples because I love my partner so much - that said i'm humbled to tears with how much of your lives is shared with your families. that's absolutely beautiful, I wish we could with ours. but I don't want to ever be bitter about that - i just want to see this love and beauty and make that happen with our chosen families. thank you
