Mandisa's biography was a story of an incredible woman of faith who struggled mightily when God didn't work the way she expected him to. With both the death of her best friend from cancer and the rejection she felt from American Idol, she shut down, isolated and turned to food for comfort. Her struggle was real, and she was so candid in her book. It must have been so hard to sing to audiences about the God who you felt abandoned in the time of need. I recently had a friend who was dying and I begged God to save him for his wife and young kids, but had to remember that we have to be prepared for God to work in a way I wouldn't choose him to, which means that he allows bad things to happen in this world. Let part of her legacy be the message she gave; When you believe God spoke and then it doesn't turn out that way, recognize our own subconscious desires can be mistaken for God's voice, and that despite all, He is still a Good God.
