    I took mine as a lump sum when I retired, but I wish I’d thought it through a bit more. I ended up putting a lot of it into investments, and with the market being so volatile, it’s been a stressful ride. I should’ve considered other ways to use it.

      That’s exactly what I’m afraid of. The last thing I want is to blow through my super too quickly or make a bad investment. It’s supposed to be my safety net for the next 20 or 30 years.

    I didn't know about Assets Test (or forgotten) I would not invested money as a independent investor. Why because this Assets Test had used this Tax!!!!!!! , a very high Tax. As single pensioner, I was lucky to be able to sale my property and buy a smaller place. What was left over I invested money and blow me the government reduced my pension (new) from $29,710.20 to $17,427.80 annually, a lose of $12 282.40. This means that I will only receive $670.30 from $1,142.80 a lose of $472.50. BUT IF I decided to invest with my family the exact same amount I would be better off and continue receiving the full pension. This is what many well off retirers do under the FAMILY TRUST FUND because they give the money to the family to invest for them. AUSTRALIA GOVERNMENT IT SEEMS HAVE A STRONG SUPPORT FOR THE WELL OFF AND but wait they saw something called the BABY BOOMERS, knowing they will reduce their life style.

    Maximum how can you the government takes $12 558 from your pension all because of investing money Yet when a person has money they availed losing any of their pension. because they put it in a Family Trust Fund and never lose any money and received full pension. I have no family I can trust so I invested and went to Centline thinking I will be honest but I don't expect was the lose of$12,558 from my pension leaving me with a pension of$633.30. Don't say I receive from my investment because that can be some time low. This is what I call a double standard, one can have a full pension while others will get a reduction pension.

    • @billburr5881
      @billburr5881 Před měsícem

      Only if the government want to index them. Remember the inflation numbers are tweaked, adjusted, massaged and outright rigged by the bureaucrats. For example inflation does not include taxes or mortgage payments - the two largest payouts for most people! How convenient! The real inflation rate is different for you, me and everyone else - it depends upon what you spend the money on!

  • @Alecmcq
    @Alecmcq Před 5 měsíci

      @fishfullness Před 2 měsíci

      See from 6:50 or so onwards up to about 7:50 - the calculator 'deflates' future income i.e. the calculator will take away future inflation to display in an approximation of today dollars equivalent so you don't look at retirement income for 20 or 30 years in the future and think - WOW I'm gonna be rich - 200k a year ! ;)
