An okay-ish competitive shooter
Rimfire Falling Steel is much more fun when the gun runs!
I shot my second RFS match today -- same stages as yesterday, but this time my gun actually ran well. Yesterday, my new (to me) S&W M&P 15-22 jammed on every stage except one, which happened to be the stage I skipped a target. Today was MUCH better. Thanks to my buddy Brian for loaning me a good magazine, which seemed to fix my issues.

🤙🤙🤙 A couple took more than one to go down.... just unfortunate, because it sounded like you hit them?
Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I had some sloppy shooting last weekend. Doesn't look like my new toy will arrive in time for this weekend. 😢
@@Delta-Alpha-Kilo The suspense will make it even more worthwhile. Really curious to see what it is.
i, too, am getting sloppy
Has anyone compared the CR920XP to the p365 xmacro with the Radian ramjet?
I’m not an Sig guy, so I have no firsthand experience with that. But, @HuntFishShootChannel and @MichiganDad both have videos that might address that.
Hey buddy. I got some questions for you. How can I contact you
Send me an email. We can chat by email or exchange phone numbers.
Great shooting! What light is that ?
Thanks. That's the Streamlight TLR-1 HL.
Digging that light set up ...
Thanks. Stole a few pieces off another long gun that has been hiding in the safe for too long.
@@Delta-Alpha-Kilo I need to buy one of those and hit up one of those weekends....
That looks like so much fun!!!
It was fun, and it's decent practice since I'm not shooting my other long guns like I used to.
How do you like the Holosun? Which setting did you ended up using?
It easily beats my old Eotech. I run all my Holosuns on auto-brightness with the circle-dot combo. Maybe not ideal, but it's what I'm used to and it works for me.
🤙🤙🤙
haha that was a fast ass round lol
Hell yea! You’re the only one I’ve seen that went right first! I got 19.27 with 2 down
9 times out of 10, if you see me run a creative stage plan, it's because @ShooterReady489 did it first and I copied him!
@@Delta-Alpha-Kilo hell he got first in ccp! I don’t blame you for copying him!
I heard him ask if brass ever gets stuck in your beard in your first video, and couldn't help but smile. 😅
Hey what did you place @@Delta-Alpha-Kilo

@Delta-Alpha-Kilo not bad not bad at all
Congrats on your first sanctioned match! Looking good, man!
@@Branj28 Thanks! I was surprised to learn I got a match bump. Looking forward to my next sanctioned match.
Hell yea man! It was my first sanctioned match too (check my channel out for that video)! I got 68th overall & 5th in CO SS! And man my chrono was terrible, I got a 142 PF! You killed my time on stage 1 (42.45 8 PD w/ a penalty for dropping a loaded mag😡) didn’t drop any on the moving swinger tho! What’s your last name? I want to see how the Shadow Systems compares to my good ole Canik! The only thing I could see that you could work on is taking BIG deep breaths before a lot of the moving positions.. try to get a deep breath before the stage to get any kind of nerves or jitters out & then keep a constant breathing at each position. It was very noticeable on stage 2! I’m not trying to be negative, just giving some pointers I’ve learned!
Shit I just got to the very end of the video! 85 isn’t bad for your first sanctioned match! You beat a couple experts and masters! Hell F. Scalise (stage 2 cso) placed 7th at nationals and you were only 20.88 seconds behind him!
I love that everyone comments on my breathing! That's a relaxation technique I picked up years ago. No idea when it started, never even knew I was doing it until I started recording my matches.
Looked fun, my friend. Those movers were moving quickly.
The speed wasn't bad other than on the clamshells on stage 7. That's the only stage I wish I could do over.
@Delta-Alpha-Kilo Yes, that was interesting. I want to go one year soon.
@Heteachethmyhandstowar It was a great match. A lot of people hit no-shoots, a fair number of DQs. I didn’t really think it was too tricky or that there were any PE traps, but I really had to prioritize accuracy over speed.
Why aren't "Armored" targets (SAPI-shaped paper over the chest) a thing in IDPA?
💵💰 Painting black no-shoot areas is easier & cheaper I guess. It's always been that way.
good work man. look forward to seeing you at ORSA this month
Awesome! You look very comfortable with that MR920P!!! 💪💪💪
YT keeps removing my comments.
Don't talk about YT on YT, YT doesn't like it!
Just realized I forgot to update the description for Stage 10. I have no idea what power factor my rounds chrono'd at, but I passed. Still looking for recommendations on good 125 PF competition ammo.
Do they run pistol/rifle courses? I haven't heard of this place, only dead zero.
Montlake does Rimfire Falling Steel matches (.22LR only) where you can run a pistol or a rifle (maybe both, I'm not sure). Cleveland has the Southern Action Shooters, where you can run any combination of pistol, PCC, and/or shotgun.
Yeah I like it too…they got this one right
Check out the CR920XP also. If you're looking for a subcompact, it beats the 43X in every way.
@@Delta-Alpha-Kilo yeah i ordered one for a customer it’s slim..like it a lot havent shot it
How u liking the 920P…
Love it! It's my favorite EDC & competition gun.
If you have an unloaded start stage do you have to use mags on the barrel if it doesn’t specify? Was wondering if I could grab a mag from my belt while moving to P1…
I’m not an IDPA rules expert, so don’t take my word for it, but… The stage description will dictate where your spare mags start - on the barrel/table or on your belt. If they start on the barrel/table, you can leave them or take them with you. So, if you’re not moving, don’t waste time stuffing mags into pouches. If you’re leaving that position, it could be better to take them, or just grab one as you run by again.
💪💪💪⚡️⚡️⚡️Looks like it was a GOOD DAY!!!
It was good. I intentionally took some riskier shots just to boost my confidence before next weekend.
🤙🤙🤙 Around 15 sec... your reload technique... Was that different? Looks like you used your index finger in the mechanics.
That's an old habit I'm trying to break. When the Glock 26 first came out, the mag release button on mine was horrible, and I used my index finger on the back of the slide to provide a little back pressure so I could drop the mag more reliably.
@@Delta-Alpha-Kilo Ahh!! I thought you were pulling off some Slick-John Wick sh!t out there!!! 🤙🤙🤙 #LetsGo

Other than jerking the snot out of the trigger, it was decent.
@@Delta-Alpha-Kilo I thought it looked good! 🤘
I move too slow -- I'm old and somewhat broken.
@@Delta-Alpha-Kilo Take it from a Keyboard Warrior, at least you are movin'!! 🤙🤙
What optic and light are you running? This vs the new m&p shield plus carry comp
The light is the Streamlight TLR-7sub. The optic is the Holosun EPS Carry, which I like but the window is a bit small for me (I'm new to optics & still in a transition/learning phase). I can't compare it to the M&P. I've never shot one. Nothing against them, just never had the opportunity.
@@Delta-Alpha-Kilo I have a 507c for my mr920p and I just picked up a 507 comp for my bul armory EDC Pro.
I run 508T-X2s or EPS on all my other guns. I figured I'd try the smaller footprint of the EPS Carry. I don't regret it, I just haven't gotten used to it yet.
Thoughts on the MR920P? I absolutely love mine, but haven't had it too long. Maybe 2500-ish rounds through it so far. Only 1 issue -- had a trigger reset problem within the first 100 rounds. Otherwise, it's been solid.
@@Delta-Alpha-Kilo I like it. I was going to get a Glock 19. After all the mods you get with the factory with shadows systems I’d figure it would be better to go with them. I think im more of a 1911/2011 kind of guy tho. I like the grip angle and trigger vs a striker fire gun. Also the slides are buttery smooth. I just picked up the Bul Armory EDC Pro and love it. I’m on tilt between the CR920XP vs the M&P Shield Plus Carry Comp. Have you shot the Shield Plus Carry Comp yet?
Same thing happened to me 150 rounds into a pistol course with a brand new aftermarket drop in trigger on a CR920P, trigger went back to normal after removing the slide and then putting it back on, taking it to a second gunsmith to see if it was installed incorrectly by the first smith, hoping that’s it and it’s not the trigger as it cost a pretty penny.
My issue was a simple fix. According to the manufacturer/gunsmith, after Loctite was applied to all the setscrews, the whole thing was "accidentally" sprayed down with WD-40 or some solvent which negated the Loctite. I have another trigger from this same shop which has different issues. I'm very disappointed, as this is supposedly the premiere Glock aftermarket trigger brand.
That TX Star looks difficult!
A single star isn’t too difficult, just a timing issue. Check out my videos with the tomahawk or the double Texas star. Definitely more challenging. That was my first time shooting either of those.
@@Delta-Alpha-Kilo Double TX Star one... Located on the right, under the trees. I could barely see the top star! Awesome shooting!!
Is it snappy?
Compared to my un-comped 43X, it is extremely flat. I'd say it's about as snappy as an un-comped G19.
@@Delta-Alpha-Kilo great to hear that it compares to the g19
Hell yea
these outlaw steel matches are awesome.. i hope they bring these to orsa
Absolutely! And we need some night shoots too.
That Shadow Systems is 🔥🔥🔥!
Did good my friend
Thanks! Appreciate the feedback.
Awesome job Can you make a vid about your preferred grip
Thanks! What do you mean by preferred grip? As in Glock vs Shadow Systems vs Talon Grips vs whatever? Or do you mean hand placement, strong vs weak hand tension levels, etc.?
@@Delta-Alpha-Kilo oh sorry Gripping the pistol But Talon Grips are the greatest invention.
I've been using the older rubber Talon Grips on everything for years, but have started moving toward the Pro grips. I've also done silicon carbide on a few guns. Mixed feelings about that.
Heck yeah! Man that looked fun!!
That match had several really good stages. And I had a particularly good day. I dropped a few too many points overall, but still a good day for me.
Is this oak ridge tn? If so how do I become a member? Do they offer training
Yes, it's in Oak Ridge. You do not need to be an ORSA member to compete, just go to practiscore.com and sign up. You will have to go through a brief walk-through with a range officer to discuss IDPA rules & safety info the morning of your first match. I don't believe ORSA offers training (I'm not a member, so I could be wrong), but there are plenty of trainers that shoot matches there and I'm certain ORSA staff has relationships with trainers and can provide suggestions.
Cool
This match had some really fun stages.
🗽
Well done🗿
Thanks!
I want to do this so bad. Do you have any tips for joining leagues?
Go to practiscore.com to find local matches. Every club I've shot with is very supportive of new shooters, and most everyone will go out of their way to help you if you let them know you're a first-time competitor. You don't need to join IDPA or USPSA right away, you can compete a few times before you join (practiscore.com will require you to enter a member number when you register for a match, I just put in ######). You don't need any special equipment, just use your EDC gear. Check out the rules (www.idpa.com/ or uspsa.org/). Practice fundamentals. For your first few matches, focus on safety and learning the rules, and don't worry about how you place. After that, focus on minimizing points down (accuracy) and penalties (rules). Speed is the last thing to worry about. Best advice: take the gear you wear everyday and your range gear, and just go do it. It might seem intimidating at first, but you'll get over that pretty fast.
@@Delta-Alpha-Kilo this is amazing thank you me and my grandma(73 one of the best shooters I know) are trying to get into it and this will be super helpful thank you!
@@calebwitherbee5499 Get your grandma out there! You'll be surprised how many old-timers (I mean that with the utmost respect) are out there. If grandma wants to run & gun, get her out there! Feel free to DM me or post more here if you have other questions.
@@Delta-Alpha-Kilo of corse thank you so much. She knows she is on the older side but she is also very proud of her ability. It’s one of my favorite things to do together. I’m so thankful for the advice. Definitely gained a subscriber.
Dude, you have to be more positive how you talk to yourself. You are not a bad shooter. The only things that separates you from the Masters is time and effort… and they have failed more than you. Don’t be afraid to fail, failure is where growth happens. The only time you loose is when you quit. You either win or you learn. Always find the positive my man. This is where the top level shooters thrive.
I appreciate the comments. I'm intentionally critical of myself so that I don't become complacent. I do recognize I have made significant progress in the last few months, and recording the matches definitely helps me analyze things afterwards.
@@Delta-Alpha-Kilo Tone is almost impossible to convey in text. This next statement is not said in a demeaning or condescending tone. However, in a genuine questioning tone. It sounds like; you think being intentionally critical of yourself is the same as putting yourself down in order to grow?
No, I don't look at it as putting myself down, just reminding myself that I'm not at the level I want to be. As I said, I can tell that I have improved dramatically, but I also recognize I'm not where I used to be (I took a few years off from shooting) or where I want to be. I'm happy/proud of my progress, I'm not upset with my performance last weekend, just acknowledging (in my own twisted way) that there's still plenty of room to grow. And I agree that the title wasn't appropriate for that particular stage, but was intended for the day as a whole. If you watched the longer video, you'd understand why I felt my performance was sub-par.
So freakin' awesome!!
Good shit
Thanks! Hopefully this weekend will go better for me.
