Fire hazard, you would need A LOT of pillows and height in order to SLOW down the fall. Without enough height, you won't be able to make the fall "soft". Elevators are VERY heavy and dropping is like hitting a brick wall. All that force doesn't magically go away if it drops on a pillow.
