9:00 , sir please note that VTU B.E honors regulations has not mentioned anywhere that we have to complete additional NPTEL coursework only from 5th to 8th sem. Again they have also not mentioned anywhere that we can start taking NPTEL courses right from our 1st sem. Only the registeration to B.E honors is done during our 5th sem. But no one knows when we can start doing NPTEL courses. VTU has not given any clarity regarding this . I'm 2024 pass out student, and i have completed 18 credits from Jan 2023 to April 2024. But today while submitting my honors degreee details, in the prexam vtu portal, it is allowing me to enter the details even for 2022 and 2021 NPTEL sessions - which means that students can start taking NPTEL courses right from their 1st sem. If there is any update regarding this-> i'll add a reply to this comment. If you feel that this information is not correct, please leave a reply to this comment. Thank you.

@@eee_arjunjoshi Thanks for sharing this sir, I would like to point out 2 things in this circular -> 1. In page number 12 (of the pdf) -> in 18UG HONRS 1.0 preamble section it is mentioned like this -> "... acquiring additional credits in the same time period for the programs " -> which means if my B.E time period is from 2020 to 2024 (1st to 8th sem), then i can acquire NPTEL addition credits in the same time period of my B.E program. 2. in page no 14 (of the pdf) -> in 18UG HONRS 6.0 -> they have mentioned like this -> In addition to the courses prescribed by the University to be completed successfully in the remaining semesters, that is, fifth to eight for the relevant Degree award, each student registered for the Honours qualification shall have to take up the coursework as notified by the university from NPTEL and other platforms and complete each coursework successfully irrespective of the number of attempts, within the minimum prescribed duration for the award of degree. -> Which means that honors registered students should complete the courses prescribed by the University (VTU / autonomous clgs) in every semester as usual, even from 5th to 8th sem (this is not specifically mentioned for NPTEL additional courseworks) , along with this , they have to complete NPTEL courses within the minimum prescribed duration for the award of degree (which is within 8th sem - as interpreted from this sentance). So the conclusion what you can make here is that- > honors registered students can take up NPTEL courses right from the 1st semester . VTU regulations has not mentioned anywhere that honors registered students should be taking up nptel courses only from their 5th semester . This is what i think.
