Brings back great memories.I was the singer in a little south london group back in 59.We did all those sun hits at teen dances round the area ,and youth clubs.I have a claim to fame ,our guitarist was a young up and coming 16 year old name of Albert Lee ( who soon will be 80 )
You should have stayed with him.
@Morten_Nielsen1979 Ha Ha.We were just a little local group of buddies .We all except Albert had jobs .He worked in a local factory for a short while spraying enamel water heaters. But when hw was not playing with us he was playing more or less as a stand in lead guitarists in London.Our drummer went on semi proffesional with diff 60s groups and even did some gigs with Gene Vincent.He was the only real talent and even he did not really take off till he moved to california in the 70s.

Man,,whatta kick to play with both Scotty & DJ I'd imagine. I played with DJ in a couple Elvis shows I did back in the day. Nice guy,,so was Scotty I heard. Scotty wasn't working with ETAs yet back then.

Great stuff, good vocals, must of been an honour to have scotty on guitar....
You can have drugs prescribed, but the doctor cannot control you if you decide to take more than you should. Poor Charlie, still in denial after all those years. You can see on film the gradual decline of Elvis those last 5 years of his life. Not heart problems, ....the drug input increased, his health declined. Those drugs he took were all very dangerous, and he mixed them.
Nice to see Scotty on a Super 400 once again.......met him a couple of times when he played in the U.K

Charlie could do those hard limericks (TONGUE TWISTERS) that Festus had done on the show. youtube; Festus Haggen--how do you know the feller wrote the reading right. . . . youtube; HILARIOUS; Festus Haggen/Ken Curtis from Gunsmoke. . .So, if I'm reading the writing right, but the writing was written wrong, then I'd be reading the writing wrong, or reading the wrong writing right, right? youtube; Festus and Dr.; Is the doctor doctoring on the other doctor, doctors the doctor getting doctored the way the doctor doctoring on the doctor getting doctored to doctor. "E L V I S" W O U L D L A U G H S O H A R D, every time Charlie started talking like Festus Charlie should have done a video of those tongue twisters, he done for Elvis. "Well"? As I stated above, I READ this same Information from the 1970's through 1990's. Web Site: Elvis Australia under Interview(s) with Charlie Hodge and Elvis Information Network under Interviews with Charlie Hodge. . .I APOLOGIZE because Charlie doing Gunsmokes, Festus character WASN'T MENTIONED :( :( SORRY. I checked under Charlie Hodge's book. . .on-line Reviews and the Fans didn't mention any JOKES, just stated his book was FUNNY with all the FUNNY stories and Jokes they played on each other through the years. DVD & youtube: The Elvis I knew by Charlie Hodge; didn't mention any specific "jokes" he DID AT GRACELAND to up lift Elvis' moods :( :( Charlie did call his self Elvis' Court Jester and could do, say things to break the BORDOM while doing the Movie, on the rode doing all the live concerts. The other things Charlie was supposed to have always told, was Elvis like watching Gunsmoke? CAN'T find that either--SORRY! It was Bonanza and Elvis had his picture taken with Loren Green and Dan Blocker :) BUT! There is a web site that states Elvis liked watching LAUGH-IN--"WHEW". One web site asked a question IF ELVIS WAS THE "black smith" on Gunsmoke? "No"! That was Elvis' stunt-double, Lance LeGault, who played the character "Oregon". Season 20, Episode 2 under IMDb. It's the LAUGHING Elvis story that has been mentioned a lot. Charlie mentions a little of that story on youtube; when he was in Europe. With Charlie's Southern Accent, and on those youtube videos; Charlie says he runs from one FUNNY story to another AND HE STARTS LAUGHING SO HARD AND CAN'T TELL THE STORY/JOKE and runs out of time.
