@@jackpot1359 by that you probably mean that a last verse of an XVII century Cossack song “Overflowed High Banks”, that was recorded around the time of Bodhan Khemlnitsky, was used and rewritten in 1914 by Stephan Chernisky? Right?

@@jackpot1359 it was a part of a folk song. When it was re written it has a number of versions. One of them was specifically liked by UPA, because it had a line with ‘go to Moscow’. For that reason it was used by Nazi collaborators as a hymn. In any case, the fact that the song was written before doesn’t change it’s heavy history. Most Polish know that their ancestors were killed with the song being used as a hymn.

I know that you will say about Volhynia. But most researchers today have the opinion that it was Red Army NKVD officers killing people in Volhynia using UPA uniform. I like this song not because it was UPA song but its lyric.

@@valbellfalcon0574 I’m sorry, but this is a false statement. Which “most researchers” are you referring to? It is a widely known fact that OUN-B UPA, wikipedia quote: “carried out large-scale ethnic cleansing against Polish people. Historians estimate that 50-130,000 Polish civilians were massacred in Volhynia and Eastern Galicia.” Moreover, even Nazi soldiers were astonished by the cruelty levels and called them beast and savages. Another wiki quote regarding UPA acts in Volhynia: “Poles were burned alive, flayed, impaled, crucified, disembowelled, dismembered and beheaded. Women were gang raped and had their breasts sliced off, children were hacked to pieces with axes, babies were impaled on bayonets and pitchforks or bashed against trees.” I could not find any reference to the version you’re referring to (that NKVD staged the massacres). Please check your sources before making random claims like this or point us to the official source where you got this information (preferably not far-right/alt-right one). Spreading false info doesn’t help anyone. The song, on the other hand, has nothing to do with UPA. It is a beautiful, old Ukranian folk song written way before UPA was formed. Huge respect to David Gilmour for this performance.
