Neural circuits desensitize the body during rest | Part 4
zhlédnutí 257Před rokem
What causes our bodies to immobilize and become largely unresponsive during sleep? The fly brain may provide a clue to our own neural mechanisms...
Hyperkinetic molecule is the key to sleep | Part 3
zhlédnutí 27Před rokem
This excitingly-named molecule called Hyperkinetic does exactly that: excite! By binding to a potassium channel in dorsal fan body neurons called Shaker, it activates Shaker which helps promote sleepiness.
Dopamine toggles a sleepiness switch | Part 2
zhlédnutí 59Před rokem
A hormone called dopamine toggles a homeostatic sleep switch in the brain through the modulation of currents in potassium channels called Shaker and Sandman.
This gene promotes sleep in the brain | Part 1
zhlédnutí 61Před rokem
Cv-c is a special gene in fruit flies which plays an important role in homeostatic sleep control. Similarities between fruit fly brains and human brains may suggest a process analogous to cv-c in our own sleep control.
What makes our brains feel sleepy? | Part 0
zhlédnutí 129Před rokem
The first video of the sleep homeostasis neuroscience research series! What is the difference between circadian and homeostatic sleep regulation? How do they work together to make us feel tired? What do we currently know about each, and how does the brain implement each process? Find out in this series!
I had a dream a month ago that my husband and I finally had our first baby. The entire dream I was worried about feeding our child, making sure I had our baby with us and didn't leave it in another room for hours. I was afraid I was going to drop them. The entire time i was afraid go be a bad mom. However at the same time i had so much love for our new born. i wanted nothing else but to be with them. Then i woke up feeling empty because it was all a dream.
I kicked my amygdala's ass. It won't do that again.
Data Dump for brains.
I had nightmares a ton as a child, but in one critical nightmare, i learned to take some kind of control. There was a Krueger-esque monster, looking away from me, and i knew that the instant he looked at me, i would die from fright. So i grabbed his head? And it worked?? I figured, if he is going to kill me by looking at me, then... That's all he's got in the bag. If i can hold his head so he can't look at me, then the rest of the nightmare can't even begin. Never had nightmares again!
Your experience could be an example of lucid dream control, a topic I’ve done some digging into in the past. Might make a video about it!
I used to be terrified of nightmares. Still am. But I haven't had one in fifteen years. Why? I pray every night to not have them, among other things. Maybe you don't believe in prayer; try meditation, or just try relaxing yourself and asking your mind to not have a nightmare. It's worth a shot.
Nice vid needs more views

How do you know tho that there are no ethical violations? If its growing its most likely alive but simply because it cant speak means its automatically ethical? How do we know that brain isnt begging and crying for you to stop cutting it open? Did someone ask the brain beforehand? Or are there professionals out there capable of telepathy that can communicate with these brains for us to know for a fact this is ethical? 🤔
It doesn’t have nerves that are connected to a body therefore doesn’t really know what’s going on. yes it’s is somewhat alive, but they don’t realise they are alive
Underrated
and you trip dmt at the same time
YES IM SO HAPPY
