61 Mercury Comet - Gathering Parts
I know it's been awhile since the last update. Fear not, I'm at the "just add money" stage of this project. Slowly gathering all the parts that will be needed in order to make this a drivable car.

Before we can install the Mustang II crossmember, we need to box the frame rails. Follow along as I prepare the rails and then weld in the frame boxing kit.
61 Mercury Comet - Front Suspension Removal
zhlédnutí 250Před 3 měsíci
Follow along this week, as I remove the entire front suspension from the 1961 Mercury Comet. Including cutting out the shock towers. Makes for a ton more room in the engine bay, and paves the way for the Mustang II style suspension install.

The more I tore down this motor, the worse it looked. Follow along as I get it out and tear it down.
61 Mercury Comet - Compression Test Failed
zhlédnutí 91Před 4 měsíci
Heck of a way to start a new project. After failing to get the original engine in my Comet to start, I dig in to find out why. Also a bunch of other little bits of progress.

Saw this sweet machine for sale and fell in love with it. It’s going to take me forever, but I’ll try to post videos as I go. This is a very short and sweet intro video, a quick walk around. I’ll babble about my intentions in a future video, when I’m turning some wrenches.
Part 9 - Injector Bungs and Fuel Rails - 1981 Goldwing GL1100 EFI Conversion
zhlédnutí 877Před rokem
Just a short collection of clips this week. The fuel injector bungs have been welded into the factory intake elbows, and I start making the fuel rails.

Sorry about mistakenly uploading last week's episode. This is the proper video file, covering sorting out the wiring of the MegaSquirt 3 Pro into this bike. Follow along as we get the wires pointing in the right directions.
Motorcycle Fuel Injection Conversion - 1981 Goldwing GL1100 - Part 7 - Flowbenching, welding & more!
zhlédnutí 973Před rokem
Little bit of a miscellaneous episode. Got the intake flowbenched. Removed the exhaust and welded in the O2 sensor bung. Came up with an air filter and a way to mount it. Found a home for the fuse/relay box as well as the MegaSquirt brain.

Indian Scout shop told me it cost two hour labor at $160 an hour spark plugs are about $20 or so crazy but how long does it take you to do that then is that two hour job as well ???
It’s coming together! Nice engine😀
Great bike, great update! Everything fits very well. I could ride this forever)
I adjusted mine with a pair of Progressive 444s.
What seat is that?
What size do I need for the flyscreen. Klassiek S3 Marlijn Piranha S3
i prefer to pay 😂
Welcome to the pocket rocket club! :D
I'm here in 2024 with this same issue on my Continental GT 650. Appreciate this a lot.
The fly screen do you have enough protection from the wind?.
For sure. No more buffeting. Gives you a nice clean flow of air.
that torn dashboard is giving me the heebie-jeebies
Just ordered wire wheels for my 2019 scout. What inner tubes did you use or did you just order stock ones from Indian? I cant tell from the part diagram if the valve stem needs to be offset when buying aftermarket tubes.
I’m pretty sure the tubes came with the rims.
It’s coming along well!
Where did you get the mirrors and blinkers. I want to get some custome ones that are small like that
Revzilla
Thanks man!
Great set of videos man. thanks for making them. my dumb ass tried mounting a sidecar to my springer softail until i found out that wouldnt work. probably buy a honda or something to stick it on. but these videos have been invaluable.
Could you send me the stl file for the manifold?
Good thing you had that engineer helping out!😊
where can i get rear shocks from? new shocks you can recommend?
Lookin good! A lot of work😀
Where did you even find that gas cap
After Arlen Ness passed away, a lot of his products vanished from the market. Back when I bought it, it was everywhere and I think I got mine from Revzilla.
Waiting for updates first start would be a neat kicker
I may pull it out and wrap it up enough to do that, once the Comet is mobile again.
A few years late but I got the chk engine and no code then it disappeared. Should I be concerned?
This method completely worked! No scratches, and my baby looks like new again. Thank you!!!
Take your dog for a ride. That's funny I bought my sidecar just for my dog. BEST MONEY I EVER SPENT
Awesome cut on the spring 🎉
And the steering lock can easily be smashed
LS swap into a Merc? Abomination. You have 3 choices: winsor/5.0, 460 based, or Coyote. Please dont desecrate a clean Comet with a Chevy Motor. Please.
I was planning to build an LS and swap it into something long before I found this car. It can always have something else swapped into it later in the future. I just love how common and affordable LS engines are. Great power, great gas mileage, light, tons of aftermarket options, tons of transmission options, I can literally get a bellhousing for every transmission out there to hook up to an LS engine. At least it’s still American. I’m not swapping a 2JZ or some BMW motor or some other import option.
Thank you for that!!
what's happening with the bike you were converting to fuel injection?
It’s sitting off to the side. Lost motivation on that project. But it’s still waiting on me.
Kewl! You got the stutter towers out!
So i hadnt messed with a stand alone ecu in a long time, so i thought id go to megasquirt like innthe old days and then i saw their prices which boy howdy i knew inflation was a bitch bit damn! Then i kept coming across reviews and videos like this and came to the fuck this shit conclusion. I was then turned on to speeduino and havent looked back
Man. ... I know you did this a while ago, but thank you. You make great, detailed, informative videos. Nice job. On a side note, is there a better solo seat for the passenger (that might even be for a different bike), but can also work on the Scout? Would love to know. Thx. AW
Pronounced “arrow-mok”
use a blade screwdriver against that inside lip on the wheel cap to install it, that way you don't ding it up. you also use the screw driver to remove that cap. when the time comes.
Im guessing this never got finished?
It’s parked off to the side in my garage. I’ll get back on it sooner or later. Just lost my motivation on this project.
Thank you, this works for the Chief too. I couldn't figure it out to save my life.
Like your scout mods videos. One thing I noticed is that if you're brave. You can actually reuse the hubs from the spoked wheels and respoke them-with the respective length spoke and size-using your scout's spoked wheel hubs, just remove the front fender or replace it
I liked the time lapse test!
I just got one off of Ali-Express. This is my test case for buying from them. It came well packed and looks just like the Aeromach (Arrow-Mok), but zero instructions. Glad I found this video. Look pretty easy once you know how. Thanks!
Awesome, Aeromach stopped making them shortly after I did this video. After ranting that the Scout market wasn’t buying enough stuff from him. 🤦♂️
Wish you still had a scout my friend. Finally got a shifter and put it on after owning this thing for 6 years. :)
Really thanks bro
Have fun with that. I need to get back to working on my 65 Fairlane
What's happening with the Goldwing conversion??
It’s sitting off to the side. I lost motivation on it. I’ll get back to it at some point. Sorry.
Looking forward to it. It's the same age as your mom 😂❤
Hello. Excellent explanation. Do you or someone on the forum know how to correct code 91 4. Thank you very much.
Jayzuusss just stop dude. I’ve seen some butchers work on bikes but for gods sake ?????? That’s just rough
Thanks for watching!
That looks like a really bad knock off of an Inder Sidecar
Knowledge of the guard dog system is nice, but making a video seems counterproductive. Thanks for the info otherwise!
You are one SMART mechanic! Good job, thank you for the info! Aloha, from Honolulu HI.
