very good video! thank you for wonderful capture of ground stories of female frontline conservation staffs
Policy maker making good decision n forester doing great job
Wow.. simply great work of humanity😘💕
Hope people just leave Bhutan and its wildlife alone. Bhutan is a very unique place, stay away.
Why called them sanctuaries anymore?
Why is the government permitting new human settlements in protected areas. Sounds like a disaster in the making, habitat loss, diminishing of prey, limited access to rivers etc n threat to human domestic animals will result in retaliation, increased poaching n new threats to wildlife, flora and fauna.
I never stop marveling at how unique Bhutan is.
Nice work Sonam.
Enthralling video,couldn’t look away,marvelous creatures,people and country.Mahseer seem to be in caring,loving hands,wonderful.

Thanks Bhutan. Your awsome work will keep wildlife safe..Bharali ,,,Assam
can u pls tell me what is the name and author of the music played along the video?
These WWF people are corrupted and are against angling. They discriminate against international anglers and have closed off Bhutan to sport fishing that can bring in thousands of dollars for the local economy. They should be thrown out of Bhutan.
I love angling, but isn't it right that some things are off limits. Money doesn't always help economy's like this, it can just intice people to chase the "dream" what ever that is. They are better off understanding and appreciating what they have.
Thousands of dollars at cost of life of animals which are very rare?? Don’t just Grow up man , grow wise...if you have little concept of interdependence suddenly money won’t matter and you will respect all life forms....we survive not just because we are smart on earth than other animals but because we coexist...
Money always helps people and economies, try living without it and see. Nothing is subsistence based in Bhutan anymore it is very much a capitalist consumerist society now. Also catch and release angling has zero negative environmental consequences. You are being deluded by the corrupted WWF.
But no one protects this only some
Blessed Country
You kidding? The tiger of the river is the golden Dorado. Please, give me a break!😛
I've fished for both, caught golden dorado over 50lb, and the mahseer is far more powerful. no question.
Just google it. Last sher means Tiger.
Are there any tigers in South America? No. There are Tigers in Bhutan, hence why the Golden Mahseer is known as the tiger of the river.
Golden Dorado is like a sardine compared to the Golden Mahseer
awesome coverage
It seems the trap damaged the leopards leg?
Worth watching. wonderful.
its a great initiative for a good cause but you cant deny the fact that there's a reason why very less fish was caught despite fishing in a very pristine and undisturbed environment... If bhutan taps into the billion dollar angling tourism industry then it would be a great source of livelyhood for these bhutanese people and people who benefits from them would vigourously protect and conserve these endangered species...
Yes, the Bhutanese government currently has a very negative attitude towards angling tourism and you can only get licenses to fish for mahseer if you have high level connections. They do not realize how much the revenue from catch and release anglers can contribute towards conservation.
I've visited our country thrice and I could hardly suppress my emotions and tears drew to my eyes every-time when I saw people take care of straying street puppies and kittens, feed doves, adopt orphan monkey-cubs, parrots and other animals. I stand by the Buddhist doctrine of Middle Path and support the Gross Domestic Happiness as your state policy. Long live the King and long live Bhutan.
Truly inspiring to see how carefully your Nation conserves the sanctity of Mother Nature in the face of worldwide deforestation and destruction of wildlife. Yours is the only Nation in the world who prospers not at the cost of Nature but on the doctrine of co-existence and man's inseparable bond with Mother Nature.
