The last ones I forged were scrolled straps on drive pintals. The problem is that they require a heavy beam at the door. Those are lovely.

I commissioned this piece for a pair of garden shed doors I recently built. My wife and I were traveling in Italy last May and I was inspired by the doors of Tuscany. The photo to start the video is of the doors across the street from the bed and breakfast we stayed at in Montepulciano, Tuscany. Dave is a good friend from college and I have always wanted to have him make something since I visited his shop years ago. Can’t wait to see the finished products in person.
