GB squad rowing. In the run-up to the Olympics the undefeatable men's coxless four get reallocated to freshen things up. Includes some rare footage of Pete Reed in his 'day job' clothes as a Royal Navy Officer. Also some very dodgy editing in the middle third. Apologies on my part. The rowing segments were spliced into a longer documentary about three Olympic sports, of which you get a glimpse....

As we are now in the run-up to the London 2012 Olympics, I thought it was timely to upload an insight into how three Irish elite rowers prepared for the Beijing 2008 Olympics. (apologies for the scrolling news bar at the bottom of the screen. It disappears at about 8:30). I also guess I'm supposed to say that I don't own this video nor claim any rights over it. Hopefully it won't get taken down...

Ahhh, happy memories of living in wonderful NZ when the Sydney Olympics were on. Forget the branding - it's the great Kiwi accent, the emotive music, the great imagery of different sports in the Aussie setting - Good times...good times...

    I always come back to this video. There are lots of sports where you won't see the same level of determination that these guys showed. Group effort - totally emptied the gas tank when they had expended all of their remaining fuel. Epic dogfight to the very end, the Canadians should not be overlooked, they were the most miniscule length away from gold.

      Now that is more difficult. Certainly, this was a much better race than 2000, the GB boat then had the lead all the way from start to finish, so not very exciting in that regard. However, the circumstances surrounding Redgrave going for his 5th gold make it so much more important. I still think this race is more epic since Pinsent also had gold medal #4 on the line.

    • @timvillabona6205
      @timvillabona6205 Před 6 lety

      the end of the 2000 race was still a nailbiter though. italy was gaining on them with every stroke in the last 100 (watch the last 10 strokes of the race); if they had another 20m italy probably would have edged ahead (not to discredit GB at all of course, amazing performance)

    • @jamescasey4674
      @jamescasey4674 Před 5 lety

      Tim Villabona but they didn't have another 20m They both trained for 2000m. If the race was 2020m great Britain would of trained for that and still won.
