If you want to go fast buy a recumbent.
Too bad they’re not allowed in many road races
Most bikes literally cost less than a grand to actually make. No amount of engineering can justify anything more than 4 grand max for bike especially since most have the sketchiest engineering (look at crapondale and BB30)
Exactly what I saw with the Dogma I mentioned
Bikes still cost an arm and a leg after 5 years out of the pandemic it’s crazy
Madness
I spent about a decade riding for a living; I'm now getting back into it. There is no way I would pay 10k (or whatever), I simply don't need it. I don't need anything more than a steel frame, a 105 group set, etc. Unless you're pro, you don't "need" it; it's a choice you make. I can't say I have a lot of sympathy.
I’m not asking for sympathy, just trying to understand what’s going on
Bike makers are making product for the 1%, while the other 99% buy elsewhere.
There’s no such thing as a bike worth $27k
I don’t think they’re worth $27k but that’s what the shops charge for them
Chris, I'm a new subscriber & really enjoyed your vlog. I look forward to consuming more of your contents & would be delighted to share cycling industry insider information to better educate consumers & enthusiasts alike. I am an entrepreneur with businesses tied to the bike industry who operates in the US, Taiwan, Hong Kong & China, While I won't comment on the current state of MTB/Road/TT prices since a lot has changed in the past 7 months. I can offer insights & attest to the origins of more than a few astronomically priced 'branded' frames are indeed manufactured in China, or at the very least have some aspects of manufacturing presence in China. While I won't single out or accuse specific brands of deceptive practices, it is rather strange that one (with relative ease) can find Road/MTB/TT frames that sport badges of S-Work, Specialized, Trek, Giants, BMC, Pinarello, Bianchi, Cellini, Colnago, 3T, this list is endless & also include high-end "artisan" component makers which are potentially dangerous or even fatal for riders. Many mid to very high-end frames are often found on China's various e-commerce sites at price points not much higher than entry-level rides. Perhaps the most alarming thing is the fact that some of these big brand frames sold in "grey market" are not all counterfeits but overruns & rejects with reverse-engineered copycat frames and straight counterfeits thrown into the mix. Anyway, the main point I am trying to make regarding this matter is simply "BUYERS BEWARE!"
hey!! nice to watch the new bike!! do you know something about the official launch??
No idea sorry, I’m (im)patiently waiting like everyone else
I've just bought a mountain bike a few days ago after testing quite a few bikes and ultimately I went for a bike that was half the price of some of the fancy bike brands for the same components. The bike was 40% off apparently but still. I am not a professional rider and the bike i got feels good and has high tech good components on it, i definitely couldn't justify getting a premium brand even with the sales. Also more a personal thing, bikr shops like your sale on the bike clearly in the shop, i dont want to ask how much is this how much is that.
Well chinese labour got more expensive, what do you expect, outsourcing everything to China and now you complaining.
Blaming China is a stretch. I’d be willing to bet that China doesn’t gets very little of the $27k being spent on a new bike
all manufactured in china for $500😂😂
Pretty much
overpriced everywhere mate, def here in US where cost of some rigs approximate the cost of a good used car. prices ARE dropping now, many firms shuttering or being sold off (see Kona). taking the price gouging route isn't sustainable and i hope consumers repay those firms who took mega advantage during and after the pandemic. i just bought a revel rail 29 on a huge discount, gx-equipped normally $5500, bagged at $3200!
Yes there’s definitely some great deals popping up now that the markets gone quiet and there’s a lot of overstocked dealers and manufacturers
Super excited about this been saving up for when it finally arrives. Also really curious about the tri version.
Being a Giant, it shouldn’t be priced off the planet like others. Hopefully….
@@ChrisDunnnz yeah I hope it’s reasonable.
🤞🏼
@ChrisDunnnz they'll do what they always have. There will be cheap versions without a bayonet style fork and no aerobars in line with the toptube. It may not be available right away though. Wouldn't surprise me if they make the old Advanced bike for a year with cheaper carbon and knock the price down significantly and only offer this new bike at the high end at first. Triathlon is largely dying for big bike companies. They know that and aren't gonna take tons of risks with a bike they know won't be sold in huge numbers
Amazing
Thanks
What cleaning solution do you use to clean your glasses other than a good microfiber cloth? Do you use a specific spray on them that you can recommend or just use Dawn dish soap with warm water?
Just water
As a roadie I see it the exact opposite way around, I admire your sport for the innovation possible in bike design!
Good point, although the fastest triathletes are mostly still riding some pretty standard looking bikes. The Speed Concepts, Bolides, P5’s and Speedmax’s still seem to be the weapons of choice
nah you guys are cool. Just please learn how to do a flying mount & rolling dismount
I can’t keep up with roadies in a road race, but the flying mount and dismount, I can do
the ku cycle... now that looks like it was beaten with an ugly stick.
Have to wonder what someone was thinking on design day…
As a roadie I agree that a lot of tri bikes are ugly but I laugh at the tri crowd more for the complaints that come in when there are any decent hills on a course lol
Haha so true!
Its not just roadies laughing at us 😂😂
True
Yes you should come over
Incredible, our top list of ugly bikes is nearly identical. Only Thing I'd add is this one Cervelo TT Bike with the missing back pipe. Although this brand now makes one of the best/normal looking TT frames... Background story on the horrible Cadex: the design department of Giant/Cadex were 0% involved and did not even know about the project (as you can see 🤭)
I was on the fence about including the P3X and P5X - they probably deserved a spot. But the P5 is a great looking bike. Ugh, the Cadex. Easily took the top spot!
@@ChrisDunnnz ah the X it is, right... I really hope the Cadex gets replaced for the pros by the nice looking Giant that e.g. Gustav Iden has.
With disc brakes though! The Trinity is long overdue for an upgrade
As a roadie I love that you can try stuff in triathlon. I feel like UCI is blocking innovation and development by sticking to rules. If you look at the bikes for the smallest of kids it seems obvious that the triangle/diamond shape makes sense - but not in all circumstances... I love how Triathlon allows to experiment... I'd love to know what bikes for climbing Alpe d'Huez would look like if you'd abandon the rule book for long enough...
That's a great point. More innovation would be epic!
I will say that at least they're not cycling in banana hammocks like they were back in the 80s! Plus those little mesh crop tops. It was a crime!
Absolutely! Running in those things isn’t comfortable either
Hi, How fast do they change from dark to light. For example I am riding in open field , then I enter in the forest . How long does it take to became clear lenses?
Keen to know this too.
It’s probably a couple of minutes to go from completely dark to completely clear but it’s a gradual transition so they start to lighten up as soon as you’re out of the sun
Great video - love the story
Thanks so much!
Awesome bro! Love it
Glad you like it!
Great vid, but what are you looking at?
This was during an online talk - I was looking at the screen
This is exactly the problem I’ve been having and I assume many others lol. ❤
It’s a common problem for lots of people
Stop buying new bikes. Period. In a year the prices will be cut in half which would STILL be too high for most bikes.
There's a few buy one get one free offers going on in the industry at the moment which is pretty much a half price sale
What are they doing in front of screens and their blue light spectrum
Haven’t tried them with screens. They’re not really office glasses
Does all bike talk on CZcams strictly focus on the most expensive bikes?
I don’t think so. I recently did a video on the new Felt IaX which is one of the more affordable options on the market
Nice! Thanks
No problem!

Nice body shape..make a video 2024 season and dream
Good idea
Nice bike nice rider
Yep, nice bike
The bikes cool too!
Goes pretty good
Sexy!
Oh, man. I assumed pricing with performance bikes is terrible everywhere. I dare not look up AUS/NZ bike pricing, haha. I bought a base level Alu. Trek full squish bike & still don't feel good about it. I have to run that bike & all of it's components to the ground.
Wow stunning scenery to train in
It really is!
am i able to wear these at night without them getting dark?
Yes
Who wears sunglasses at night?
I saw a used 2013 road bike on marketplace they wanted $350 US on bicyclebluebook the 2013 bike is worth $230, prices in the US is extreme high.
Sick!!
I knew you’d like that
I could buy a very nice, used, German automobile, with many years of life in it, for those prices.
It's a joke mate, even cheap stores like Aldi and Tescos are no longer cheap. it's thiis one world government in the making that's deliberately creating this environment that's encouraging stores to jump up prices. Every bodies doing it now as these elites want to crash the economy so everyone will depend on this one world communist government. Just wait, watch and see mate as it's happening right before our eyes. They're heading towards a cashless society and there's no stopping it. With cash they can't control you, but when everything is cashless they can cancel your card or your digital money at anytime if y ou don't go along with government regulations.
Stunning! What area is that?
This was around Otama and Opito Bay . Coromandel, NZ
@@ChrisDunnnz 👌🏼
Prices are absurd and so far removed from the real world. I race masters B grade crits on a Chromo Columbus SLX frame Suntour Superbe Pro group set, down tube shifters, 6 speed block and singles. 10 years ago, I completely restored it , with top tube replacement, rechroming and repainting for about AU$1,700. A beautiful bike, a top shelf bike from 1986, but now not current. Always receive compliments on it! I am still there at the end of the race and am competitive when I want to be on it. Would I buy a top shelf bike now? Not on your life. Curiosity has got the better of me though. I have however got my hands on a second hand 2018 BMC Team Machine SLR01. Having never ridden a carbon bike, I am curious to know the difference between 1986 tech and newish tech and hearing another person's take is not the same as first hand experience. I just can't believe the miniscule tech advances from 2018 to 2023 justify such enormous price differences. Yes, a lot has happened in the world over the last several years however, if customers keep lining up to buy the latest must have at ridiculous prices for probably no real perceivable performance difference, the bike industry will continue to inflate bike prices beyond reality. These are bikes - not diamonds and precious metals!
