My Brotha, this is serious oo... I am only an observer, but I too am very concerned about the path of assimilation that I see many diasporans taking. Not just AA. Please understand that many of our Brothas and Sistahs are living in, and were brought up in cities, where taboos and traditional customary codes, are virtually nonexistent. If you are in a city, you may have to be 'from the streets' to understand some of these codes. In Jamaica we also refer to, 'Johnny come lately' as someone who just arrived and is making certain 'unexpected moves'. Even on a job this can become an issue. I am concerned that many diasporans are not taking the time to learn from locals what is acceptable, and what is not when it comes to navigating their transition. Too many are suffering as a result of this. Every village, town, city, country has its 'pecking order'.

Its a worldwide phenomenon. People move to a new place, they may have an academic understanding of how things work, but they don't really understand how things work. They meet some person at church or at the meat marke, get duped and then proceed to use social media to scandalize a whole country.

You know what I find heartbreaking about all of this is the fact that I have yet to hear one story about an Asian, European or Arab being land scammed or scammed in any fashion in any African country.

I think you need to rethink your title. It's more than just African American. Why are you just saying "African American". Many others involved.

I am Black American living in Ghana in a house I built on land I purchased. Yes, I have overcome obstacles but I am still here. It is difficult to listen to your message because it seems that you are amused by the negative experiences of Black Americans. If I am to take you seriously you might want to at least appear to have some compassion. Making light and laughing at the pain of others is cruel. There are homeless Ghanaians living on the streets of American because of a lack of understanding of practices, just as there are Americans suffering in Ghana for the same reasons. It is not a laughing matter. Perhaps I am being too critical but I hope you will consider my comments. People are hurting. We should uplift them.

If there is not contract or understanding before the work then in my opinion its voluntary or at leisure. How does one know what to pay someone if the amount is not determined prior to the start of work. Business is structured and contractual meaning all parties must agree. If you think the work is worth 1 cedi and I think its worth 2 we should have ironed out the issues before work starts. You cant say i did this work for you now pay me, That's ghetto. My dad would call that nig ga business.
