Saw this last night in Portland, the cast killed it great job, however the show was not for me
When
I saw this show in Chicago, one of the worst professional musicals I've seen. The show abandons the absurd cartoon world that made the original shorts interesting to tell the cliched, overdone story of Betty Boop traveling to the real world and adapting to modern life (essentially a complete rip-off of Barbie, the Rocky and Bullwinkle movie, the Smurfs movie, and so many more). The show pretends it's presenting some sort of feminist narrative, but the ultimate message is that none of Betty's accomplishments really matter as much as falling in love with a man (which isn't necessarily an anti-feminist message but isn't especially feminist or inspiring). Tons of plotholes, an over-reliance on boring projections for the scenic design, and an overall pandering and unfunny tone. Obviously, the cast is talented as is the case for any new, Broadway-bound musical, but don't waste your time or money on this mess of a show when it opens in NYC

@@ktw70 You're missing the historical context of the joke: How Destiny's Child was a band that Beyoncé's father assembled to back Beyoncé up because her voice isn't very strong. How none of those women got solos and the other two original members sued and won and then left the group and the first song where Kelly and Michelle literally had voice was "Survivor" which was about the band surviving the legal troubles. I'm not sure what you think I'm saying.

I saw her performance back in December. Jasmine Amy Rogers is phenomenal both as an actor and singer. I just wish this song was on iTunes
