The Rolling Stock of the NYC Subway's B Division, Future Car Assignment Predictions | Transit Talk
In May 2022, I made a video about the rolling stock of the New York City Subway's A Division. In the video, I talked about what could cause changes to the rolling stock's assignments and predicted which types of subway car models may appear on which lines. This video is the second part of the video as mentioned above, only now, we'll be talking about the B Division's rolling stock.
There are eight (9) different types of subway car models used for the B Division, with one of the types of models planned for the future, and three other types awaiting retirement. How will the subway car assignments change? Watch this video to find out!

The Second Avenue Subway is one of the most anticipated subway expansions in New York City. Plans for this line have existed for over a century ago, and only three stations have been built for the line so far. Many people question whether the full line will be able to see the light of day. In today's video, let's talk about the good, the bad, and the future of the Second Avenue Subway. MUSIC US...

How would a Subway Line along Utica Avenue Work? | Transit Talk
zhlédnutí 12KPřed rokem
In the past, I discussed the MTA's Utica Avenue transit improvement study, where three initial ideas were outlined to improve transit along the corridor. In the end, my thoughts were that a subway line along Utica Avenue would be the best investment to improve transit. But, how in the world would this subway line work? That's the topic of today's video. Utica Avenue Petition ► www.change.org/p/...

In August, there were two weekend service changes that cause R160s to run on the G service in New York City. This is very unusual to see because R160 type cards do not usually run on the G service. For Southeastern Brooklyn in the long run I would propose the Coney Island Ave line to have 6 tracks with provisions to be extended further into the Rockaways for my plan I'm drafting a version of it here the superexpress would be provided with Broadway service with express and local service would be provided by 6th Aveune and Crosstown lines here the St Felix connection would be abandoned and replaced with cut and cover under Prospect Park with a stop at 10th Avenue with a passageway for a transfer to the Culver line and another express station at Church Avenue South of that station the line would become a four over two configuration under this plan I had local trains terminate at Shore Pkwy (with two of those terminating tracks becoming relay tracks and a connection to the existing CI Yard would also be provided). South of Shore Pkwy the superexpress tracks would rise up to meet with the express tracks terminating the (N) and (Q) at Kingsbourough CC straight down south of Church Avenue. Under this plan there would be local stations at Newkirk Avenue, Avenue J, Avenue M and Avenue P with an express station at Kings Hwy along with additional local stations at Aveune U and Aveune X along with an additional express station at Shore Pkwy (which would be the terminal for local trains). Here the superexpress tracks would meet with the express tracks making additional stops at West End Avenue, Ocean Avenue (both would be local) and an express station at Norfolk Street with a connection to the Nostrand Avenue Line and with tail tracks that curve east of the station for provisions for a further extension to the Rockaways. For the Cropsey Ave line the idea I had was to split it into two branches with one going to Kingsbourough CC and the other going to Sea Gate as well as a Bay Ridge Avenue line in the interim I would propose Light Rail Crosstown Metro System for any major North-south and Crosstown Streets along Ocean Pkwy, Coney Island Avenue, Ocean Avenue and Neptune Avenue and etc from there linking those new LRT routes into the Rockaways.

3:21 the reason for this is simply because R160s are the only car type available in large enough numbers to supply the E, F, and R for CBTC. Even if the MTA compiled all the 143s and 179s and put them in Jamaica Yard, it wouldnt be enough. Also the switch up on the N, Q, and W is crazy. Used to be the lines with the cleanest, nicest, and coolest train cars... and now they're the least priority lines in the whole system. Probably won't be getting new techs on them until the mid-late 2030s.

Love this video! Have you talked about the issue at Flatbush Ave. on the 2/5? Btw Franklin and Flatbush it always stalls btw stops bc there’s only two tracks. But if the IBX actually gets made, the Flatbush Ave. station can be extended to meet up with the IBX allowing for terminating trains at Flatbush to gtfo out of the way for incoming terminating trains

What about the Franklin Ave Shuttle? Its platforms can only accommodate 2-car SMEEs. My prediction is that due to its short platforms and the fact that it’s a continuation of the Brighton Line’s local tracks, Botanic Garden’s platforms can be extended to full-length and Park Pl and Franklin Ave can be relocated underground with full-length platforms. The line can then extend further north and connect with the Crosstown Line, thus eliminating the shuttle and converting it to a through-service. If the fleet will be expanded, this could be a possibility.

The 86 Street (N) and Avenue X (F) walking transfer was put in place because of the N temporarily having to terminate at 86th because of track repairs. Once the work was completed, the transfer was eliminated. Also, the Bowling Green-South Ferry transfer would be beneficial for 4 and 5 riders who want the 1 stations between South Ferry and Chambers.

The reason why the turns were so aggressive on the 2 and 5 is because of the 180th Street-Bronx Park spur
