I don't think tool chests would be super useful for the type of tools we use. With that being said I do think theyd be cool as a collector. I personally use a sheet of plywood with screws to hang everything. I do have a craftsman tool box for the little items such as bits. Obviously shop organization is an opinion.

Doing a quick look around since this question I know has appeared in places before, I found that the old Mark VII (not to be confused with the new Mark 7) has the same way tube distance so it will work. I don't know if the old carriage will fit the table upgrade however. It use to be that the shopsmith site did tell you if things were compatible or not. Please do some secondary research to confirm this info, and see if you can test the carriage alone with an ebay find. Might save you some trouble and money. Remember, a 510/520 carriage is what you need and not a 500.

Well I won't pile on by stating that you had the cutters installed backwards, oops I guess I did. I have cut miles of moldings with my old '57 shopsmith green, each cut taking a special setup to hold the stock safely and securely. Keep at it, a shopsmith can do amazing things. I also have the router setup you showed in your next video teaser at the end, except I enlarged the opening and mounted a lift for a 3.5" full sized router. Using that table in conjunction with the shopsmith tables works well.

You cut yourself short. Demo was just what was needed. I have one of those, but do not use it. After the first time, when my tools dulled in the middle of the project, I had to reconfigure from lathe to disc sander then back again to continue. I bought a slow speed grinder so I could move from lathe to sharpener and back - only takes a minute to complete. But you do have to spend a few extra bucks. I guess you could find a way to use the auxiliary drive on the back side of the headstock, and an auxiliary table, but you would have to be careful about speed with a project hanging off the quill.
