Thanks for the concern. I'm all good. Been conditioning myself for years. Weather conditions permitted me to hike over 4 miles yesterday without having to use any water. Of course, I rehydrated sufficiently afterwards.

How did they do this?
As a geologist who works for a mine, I highly recommend not entering abandoned mines. Yes, there are cool things in them sometimes. But we seal them for a reason. There are often unexpected pits/shafts, unstable rocks, dangerous animals, and plenty of other dangerous things. The process of entering an abandoned mine to collect samples takes weeks of slow and careful work by professionals.
