Once they make friends, it helps.
People are trying to bring them help and comfort while also trying not to loose their own mind. They will accept that the doctor wants them there for tests and monitoring to Help them get better.
Nope. Tell them their arthritis is being monitored.
Wtf is this comment section 💀👄💀
Thank you for this video!! Very appreciated ❤
When she mentions seeing the black labrador, (which she didn't) it triggered a memory regarding a past ownership in the patient. It meant a little conversation, but also that the staff member had to tell a white lie to get it. My dad had dementia, and was finally in a care facility. The staff there said he wouldn't drink his water, and they did not have time to mollycoddle. When I visited and said to Dad "Do you want to drink your water?", he wouldn't. When I said "Drink your water Dad it's got vitamins in it (whte lie) he'd immediately pick it up and drink. It's hard though when you weren't used to fibbing to your dad in the first place, but it was the only thing which worked.
Exactly what I was looking for. Very nice job having the mannequin, I'm a visual learner. Also, it was to the point with a nice short but detailed summary
Thank you. Good info.
This is so endearing I love this ❤
Oh man this lady is great. I want to visit my favourite uncle with dementia and want to learn about whats best for him
My doctor says I could drop a medication if I could change my diet. I'm still taking a med that reduces acid reflux even though I'm not sure I even have acid reflux.

Clear and concise! Perfect explanation and definition!
Very sad stories, these made me think about my parents and that I need to be always aware to protect them. As well as being aware to protect other elders.
Oh my gosh 😢 my mom said that she hadn't eaten in 4 days when she came home from the skilled nursing home she was in for a stroke. She was answering my question, I asked her if she had eaten or if she was hungry. Thank you for this video. 🙏🏾
Can this we worn for reliving cramps on calf?
This is awesome! Thank you for this idea!
This talk on Sundowners is very helpful -- *thank you* for posting.
Is it Art of living course?
You’ve ruined the video by putting those enormous polling instructions over most of the screen, and the instructions are irrelevant because the polling button described is nowhere to be found.
Thank you!
I was interested till you started talking about the bible... nope
Hope my wife keeps lifting weights, to have the strength to help with my transfers. Or, I could give up daily ice cream now, and help out myself.
Awesome tips 👍
Good tips. But the text next to the demonstration is taking up too much space on the screen.
Wonderful...you pay thousands of dollars to have the privilege of seeing a doctor and you only get 10min... Criminal
*CAREGIVERS ASK:* *"When am I supposed to put them in a headlock?"* *"How much do baby-gates help?"* *"I hear 3 inch long deck screws can be a game changer! Which door should I apply them to first?"* *"It is true that a reliable babysitter is 'Murder, She Wrote' or is 'Golden Girls' better?"* *Yes, humor can be a great stress reliever. Don't take things personal. I know it's easier said than done not to get offended but it helps me to remember that like a feverish disease, I wouldn't get ticked off at someone for running a fever. So too, just remember they have little to no control over themselves and become more and more selfish like a child/baby. And don't joke directly with the afflicted one. Save your comedy for a confidant later after you vent and cry a bit. Peace be with all us caregivers.*
Thank you , this was a great resource for me as a resident assistant.
I got hired at a in care service and I watched a video but no hand on training, and it feels a little strange that it's to be done with no one else in the room. I have not started the job yet. Glad I found this video, there one I saw in the training was not detailed at all!

Shes so informative, i had a tramatic brain injury, had to write things down that i had to do daily, took about 1 and a half almost 2 years till i was right, still dont have the photograph memory i used to have, my dad is going through dementia, im more patient with him, knowing what i went through
I will add this person is a veteran of the army, & VA hospital plays pass the buck onto me. He is homeless. He needs 24 hr. Care. The VA has dropped the ball ! I am in shock. I am disabled, 65 , on social security & homeless myself ! I only get $60.00 a month of foodstamps, & he has been unable to work, zero income. & my vehicle is ... I dont even want to speak those problems into the air. I have to take him to the VA several tmes a week sometimes. I am so stressed i cant take much more.
You havent mentioned people who have had an acute stroke. A narcissist, uncooperative & the most toxic & negitive individual. I am trapped with full time 24/7 babysitting him because he has no one. I am way to stressed.
