The code lasts until the end of January and only works on this website: www.lysloypa.no Hei!

Today I'm talking with Kaja Kvernbakken about many different topics such as why she comes from Bergen but speaks as if she came from Oslo, the difference between the school system in France and in Norway, how translating texts work, or even how to build a character when you write a book. Kaja is a Norwegian writer that has giving out 2 books, and this interview, you get to know her a bit better...

Hi, my name is Ilys, I was born and raised in France, and today I have lived in Norway for 3 years. Since the beginning, moving to Norway hasn't felt like moving away from home, but going home. Today it really much feels like I have two homes, and like family or friends, I love both France and Norway equally, but for total different reasons. I learnt Norwegian on my own and am today totally flu...

SUBTITLES on the whole video ! 🇳🇴 Heii! I denne Vlogg...

This is quickly becoming one of the most valuable language learning videos on CZcams. I love how you made stories and had your friends translate them. They are literally your own words and so they would be close to your heart and that gives confidence also. Thank you so much for sharing!
Brilliant approach! Thank you for sharing!
Amazing level!!! COngratulations!!! ;)
Thank you. I am from Galicia, northern Spain, I like your study method, thanks for your advice, I am improving my level, which was zero, I know that in two days it will be better. Working on the language phonetically and visually seems like a brilliant idea to me, since we all once learned our mother tongue this way. In a while I will go live to Stavanger, your videos are very helpful, both for English and Norwegian. Thank you again. ;)
Awesome video! ❤
thanks a lot for your explanation in English!
Gracias por compartir. I am from Galicia, northern Spain, I love learning. Thanks for your videos and advice. I hope one day to speak Norwegian like you, you have incredible pronunciation and control of tenses and tones, congratulations.
Clear, understandable English, understood almost everything
Why did you cut your hair so short? You look fabulous here!
I just loved this video by heart, hope to meet you someday in Norway :3

Great video!!❤
I think you demonstrate commitment, discipline and hard work. The techniques are kind of common sense. It’s great that you got to move to Norway.
I think English is the universal language then why should people learn new language, i have no idea 😢
How many malyalis are here??
I need Spanish friends
Hi, may I ask how many years was when you started learning Norwegian really, to time when you moved there? And second question, what kind of audiobooks did you read the most often? For example criminals?
Thank you for sharing such amzing hints!
Thanks fortune and the author, i've come across this video. It's so calm and cozy. Even though you're not a native in English (if i'm not mistaken), your Englush is perfect and it gives me much motivation and inspiration to go on with my way to improve my level of it. Moreover, i'm obsessed with Norway cuz once I've won a grant for studying there as an exchange student (my dream came true) and I spent half a year in this picturesque country, so during watching your video i unblocked all the memories and now miss Norway so much.
We're waiting for a new video! It's been a while since you posted one❤
Holy shit! As someone that was born and raised in Norway but grew up in a traveler family and spoke Rotipa as my first language, then Norwegian. I was often asked if I was from another country than Norway, especially when I spoke English; I also experience being assumed to be American by native English speakers, as well. These days it rarely happens, and if ever, it only happens if I speak bokmål, in which case I just begin to speak in my mothers Løkken dialect; at which point only people from trondheim or nord-norge seem to understand what I am saying. I am telling you as someone with a rather particular outside from the inside perspective of the language. Your Norwegian is fucking insanely good, and as others have commented, damn near native.
veldig koselig kanal, ikke gi opp! =D
Ilys's opening statements about making the video sums up how I feel about starting language learning. However, after watching this video it has spurred me on and I shall be trying to follow her method. I think that this is probably the best language learning advice ever.
Her English is also amazing. The French are notoriously horrible at learning foreign languages - esp. pronunciation, as it mostly sounds like a messed up version of French (pardon me, no offense intended, I am about to make a point here lol). So clearly, she has some amazing abilities to learn new languages that are way above average. Really impressive and the tips are actually amazing on a practical level!
Thanks this is amazing btw your so gorgeous
Thank you for your advices! I’m native russian speaker, but I know english and study japanese. It’s very interesting, but a little bit hard, because new language is always a new way of thinking.
pls, continue, it very helps me to study norsk
Hi, Ilys! your video is so helpful, even for people who are studying another language, like me. i´ve been studying english for about five months and i´m very happy, because i understood almost everything that i listened to in your video. thanks for the tips!
hi and thanks for helpful 23 minutes 👍
This Sytende Mai, I’m going to do more paired listening and reading practice, after seeing this.
Did you try ChatGPT? It's quite good in translation, at least from Russian to English and back. Better than Google for me.
Thank you for this video. I really appreciate it, this is the best advice i've ever heard. I'll going to start try to learn Norwegian on my own by following you tips. Veldig takk!
By the way there is Spirit Soul of the Prairies animation, it was released in 2002. Have you seen it?
I came here from Evgeny Eroshev's CZcams channel. Thanks for the video
Great video, I'd love to read / hear your stories in Norwegian!!
I suggest "Reverso" as Translation tool
I think basic grammar is a necessary 🤞🏻
This video is pure gold! Thank you, you've made an amazing guide!
I hope your video reaches every corner of the language learning community
I learned Hebrew very well passively over the course of a couple of weeks purely because I’ve been praying in Hebrew my whole life (without understanding any of it, but memorizing almost all of it), and I had so many references that when I heard a words translation, I’d be like “oooooooh that makes a lot of sense.” The context for words really helped a lot.
Hi Ilys, I hope you are well. I have watched your video many times over the last few months and if it is possible would I be able to have the stories you created in english (if you still have them)? I am currently at an intermediate level in Spanish and believe using these stories as a means to practice speaking (my biggest weakness) would help with the transition to fluency. I don't have social media, so please let me know if there would still be a way to get access to your stories. Thank you :)
Bonjour!
