Everybody hating on baby talk in the comments, but I think it’s important to treat kids where they’re at developmentally. You’re raising an adult of course, but they need to work up to that. The thing is, they’re NOT adults, and before they learn about discipline they need to learn love first- specifically that they are loved. (Not talking about toddler age) Baby talk is ridiculous, yeah. It’s not fun for adults to listen to… but it’s not for adults. It’s for babies who have been proven to react more positively to the baby voice and being played with in that way, and there’s a reason we’ve been doing it naturally for yeeeeears. You got the majority of your life to be an adult. Your childhood is fleeting. I remember the very early moments of my life with great fondness and simply remember how loved I felt because of how my parents talked to me and treated me :)

Treating normal people like babies

When I was a baby there was a family friend who came around a lot. He liked to sit down at the kitchen table with me and chat like we were two guys down the pub. Apparently I burbled along happily any time he did that.
