I don't know about the Farmina Dog food but, THE FARMINA CAT FOOD IS DANGEROUS FOR CATS... IT CAUSES STONES... CATS MAY LOVE THE TASTE, BUT IT CAN MAKE THEM VERY SICK AND COST 1 to 2 THOUSAND IN VET BILLS and POSSIBLY EVEN YOUR CATS LIFE!! IT RAISES BLOOD CALCIUM and PH TO DANGEROUS LEVELS... IF YOU FEED THIS, PLEASE KEEP A CLOSE WATCH ON YOUR CAT FOR URINATION PROBLEMS. Review left on Amazon August 12, 2018 I have a healthy 2 year old neutered male. He had just had his yearly exam- with bloodwork- which was normal, including his serum calcium levels. Then I started giving him this Farmina dry food. He loved it- even more than his wet food. 6 months later, he was rushed into surgery for calcium kidney stones; on testing they found his blood calcium was dangerously high. He recovered from the surgery and I stopped the Farmina and changed him back to his regular food (Purina Pro Plan) 2 months later HIS BLOOD CALCIUM IS COMPLETELY NORMAL. Both the vet and myself know it was the Farmina; she is registering her concern with the company and also with the regulatory body that tests/ approves the safety of pet foods- The same thing happened to my 10 year old female cat after switching her to Farmina. I suspected it was the Farmina food because it seemed too coincidental that it happened shortly after switching. She was completely healthy before switching to Farmina food. So, I wanted to read some reviews to see if this has happened to anyone else, and found this review. I thought I was doing a good thing by feeding this supposedly great quality high protein food!! I am rushing my cat to the vet this morning as she is passing very little urine and I noticed blood in it. She is lethargic, meowing a lot and is trying to urinate in the corners of rooms outside of her box. She has never urinated outside the box before either. CAT OWNERS, PLEASE BE AWARE!! I think there needs to be some research done on the ingredients of this food. I'm afraid there is going to be a lot of sick kitties out there soon, as this food is still fairly new on the market.
