Diagonal Basting Stitch
A diagonal basting stitch is the perfect workaround for handling slippery or bulky fabrics. With this stitch, your fabric stays locked in place, reducing the puckering and pleating caused by the presser foot or feed dogs. The diagonal basting stitch keeps the fabrics from warping while in the machine for slinky fabrics like silk satin or sheer organza.
I hope you find this helpful on your next project!

I'm Finally Back!
zhlédnutí 46Před 21 dnem
Hey everyone! I know.... I've been gone for what seems like forever. Sometimes life likes to throw curveballs, and we have to put things on pause to put all our efforts into what we have in front of us. I will be back in September! I'll be committing to posting once a month at the minimum. Everything else will be a bonus. The most important part is to be consistent. My goal is to create a commu...

From this basic straig...

zhlédnutí 406Před rokem
Hi Everyone! In this video, I show how to draft and fit a bodice block! I have wanted to make a custom bodice block for myself for a long while and finally had the motivation and brain capacity to do it! These will be useful in making other blocks later on, but first, they will be used to help draft a future blouse that I plan to hand sew. More on that later. Book I use for reference: www.amazo...

Hi everyone it's Audrah! Welcome back to my coat tailoring project! In this video I show how I secure my seam allowance by hand by using a catch-stitch. If you struggle to make knots, find it inconvenient when hand sewing. This video is for you. I used to make knots at the end of my thread in the "tie your shoe" way. Very slow, very beginner level. Over the last 10 years of sewing I've learned a few other ways to tie a knot. Believe is or "knot". Enjoy the video and make sure to leave a comment even if it's just to say hello. 6 TIPS TO BEGIN TA...

Hi everyone it's Audrah! Welcome back to my coat tailoring project! This video is about making epaulettes, sleeve tabs & a belt using the couture method. If you struggle with making these design details by sewing machine and found that the points aren't perfect, the pressing is making it worse. Or even that the seam allowance is not cooperating. I find that when working alone ( which is what I have to do) it helps a lot to put a center front or center back zipper in ~ also, Pin right & left sides for each area to be changed then , Take the muslin off after each change and baste that change on the muslin. Put it back on, make/pin the next single change , remove the muslin & baste that change on it. Put it on again, Reassess the fit, and pin another area, Repeat.

    I can do blanket stitch all day long on a flat piece of fabric but I'm trying to use it to hold two layers together. I wish this video included how you begin the row and how you end it. The written part isn't too clear on that either.

    • @newheritagewool
      @newheritagewool Před 10 měsíci

      Hi @tgailw1982, To start a blanket stitch. I place the knot in the fold of the seam allowance about 1/4" from the edge of my project. It will first feel like it's incorrect. But the stitch begins to take shape after the 2nd or 3rd stitch. Let me know if that works for you. Happy stitching! -Audrah
